Good shooting!
A good round for close to medium range shots on varmints. A lots less noise than a .223 or such also.

I visited there last night and was listening to another vixen screaming and a dog barking in the same place. The fox rut is still on here. Oddly the few pheasants I am use to hearing going to roost were noticeably absent!
I was there the night before to check zero. Interestingly I removed the moderator to find vial wet soup every where and on the barrel crown. It resembled the soup I get on my front stuffers minus the smell.
The mod is off and in the cupbourd!
If any of you use mods take them barrel rotting things off when you finish shooting!

My 13 year old son asked what season was open now and I didn't think to tell him he could be shooting coyotes and fox along with rabbits.

Good shooting Nath! Always enjoy your posts.

Good shooting Nath. I have a question, Are you seeing expansion with the Remington SP? I bought some years ago and sighted them in and saw my one shot stops drop off. Went back to the Win 40 gr HP and things started dropping again. It was when they first came out and I wondered if they might of been a little hard and penciling through.

Good question. The vixen made 50yds before folding up!
The soft point is tiny!
Shame really as they are accurate!
I just got some Remington h points, they look like the generic CCI bullet however are not as accurate as the R sp in question :(.
Time will tell. I do miss the old winchester bullet, dont see them any more over here :(

I found the 40gr CCI's to be very accurate and they punch the stuff out of fox and coyote out to 100 yards or so. Never should have sold my 22mag may need to hit the next gun show to see if I can find another.

Is a "moderator" British English for what we refer to as a "suppressor" on this side of the pond? How difficult is it to legally obtain such an item in the motherland?

Yes, sorry. Suppressor, silencer.
No problem to obtain now. Think some played the health card about hearing damage and claims of compensation. So now the grant them like they were candy!

Sound moderator, can and suppressor are more modern terms for what we in the UK have always referred to as a silencer, of course the only "silencers" that work are in the movies, so sound moderator or suppressor is a more accurate description.

The last few nites the coyotes have been singin' around my place... AT TWO O'CLOCK in the morning! Went outside for the last coupla of nites with the 1 million watt spotlight... they musta still be off in the trees... about 150 yards off. My son had his AR ready... I told him to put it away... we weren't shootin' coyotes at 2 in the mornin'!  No matter how badly I wanted to! I'm sure the lawyer at the end of road woulda got his girlie drawers in a bunch! Deputies have had to tell him a couple of times that if he wants to shoot guns in his pasture, he's only responsible for where the bullet goes... same as his neighbors. I loved it.

Got the call out yesterday & today about sunrise and no joy!

Congrats Nath, and no, the photo is NOT a little dark... looks perfect given the foggy conditions... nice and clear, good detail throughout the color range. Would that all of us could get such good pics!
