Winchester 1873 for $500...Sometimes I'm Lucky! (Rebuild)

Post by rbertalotto »

A few weeks ago I picked up an old 1873 Winchester that needed lots of love! This one was a real challenge but I think it came out pretty good!

Lots of pictures so I wrote an entire article for my web page

Enjoy!

Very fine rebuild. I wish I had your talent.

I envy your skill and ability to to properly make such extensive repairs. When the cartridge support nib broke off the bolt face on my original '73 I had a welder dab on a small blob of metal, which I then filed and ground to shape. So far its holding, but I must say your repair of this problem was far better done.

You have a very unique rifle there, and I look forward to a range report! :D
