Today was the first day of the gun season here in VA !
Saw a couple bucks this AM but was unable to get a decent shot .
Went out this afternoon and carried my Remington 700BDL 6.5-06 as well as the old Parker Grade 2 hammer 10 gauge just like I had in the AM !
Long about 16:30 I had what I thought was a pair of doe come up to about 30 hyards and stop . Then the smaller came closer and I dropped it with the right barrel then swiveled and shot the larger one with the left barrel . The first made it about 15 yards and the second was DRT ! Handloaded 0 Buck 12 pellets and 30 grains SR7625 in a REM SP-10 wad and 6 9mm cases full of Winchesater Grex buffer with the shot .
Had a number of firsts on this day !
First deer killed with the Parker Grade 2 hammer 10 gauge .
First time I killed two deer on the rise so to speak with a shotgun shooting buckshot .
First piebald doe I ever killed .
The larger one incidently is the piebald doe and the smaller one turned out to be a button buck .
