Marlin and me thread

Post by 1894 »

Got me to thinking about the many times been out hunting over the years ( mostly unsuccessful ) and the pics I've taken just because I could , and felt the same way as Old No7 .
Some are using a Marlin for scale , some just because it fit the scene in my minds eye , and a couple of my rare success' .
I'll post several of the snapshots I've taken ( read I am not a photographer ) in hopes that some others do the same while out there where we find the ,peace, tranquility, time to get our feet back on the ground, and just relax.
I hope others will share as well.

Because I liked the scene with a lever gun in it

curly pine tree

old stump from the 50's

Bear tracks heading to hibernate , the 2 on the moss are mine.

My Dads 336 the first year I carried it afield after he past , felt like he was there every step of the way

RE the last pic , like I said Dad was there with me that day . I clearly heard him say " Well , if you are gonna shoot , then shoot "
so I pulled the trigger

Great pics! Reminds me of my youth in Michigan, hunting the woods and swamps on a first snowfall..thanks for sharing. Les
This is plagiarized from someone else, but I love it!

those are great photos...esp your dad's rifle. like the way you use the rifles to give scale to the photo. you made my day much better with these.

here is one where i used my 1886 45/70 to give scale to the photo:

Image

the track just above the buttstock is mama bear's track

the others further behind the rifle were 'baby's tracks ' .....baby was at least a year old, i guess.

thanks for making my day and lunch hour much better !

Thanks for the great batch of photos, I too did some growing up in the north central part of Michigan. I walked and rode my horse many many miles hunting those woods.

hfcable , Nice pic , and I'm kinda glad the bears around here don't grow as big as the ones in your area :)

1892 , That looks like a great woods gun . I liked all the pics in your thread on that !

ollogger , thanks , we have quite a few trees growing on and around rocks like that in the Adirondacks . I think a lot of those big rocks are immigrants from Canada during our last big global cooling cycle.

Dave , Old faithful looks right at home in that pic .

Thanks all for the pics and comments . I hope to see more either here or in your own threads 8)
