Headed out tomorrow to the Sandhills for an antelope. Taking the Marlin 338ME. going to use the 200gr FTX round.
Might be bit of over kill, but can shoot this rifle well, have confidence in shots out to 300yds, and the 200gr will have plenty left to drop an antelope.
Not even taking the BLR 308 for back up. Just the Marlin.
Taking the BSS too, will be shooting some sharptails if I get the chance. First things first, shoot pronghorn, then sharpies. Maybe a turkey too if a good young fry-er presents itself.

Good Luck on your hunt. ,,,,,DT
Re: Antelope
Lucky you, hope you get a nice one.
When I used to hunt in AZ the season was short 3-4 days.
I would have more fun doing my scouting than the actual hunt.
By the time opening morning rolled around I would have 10-12 days of scouting under my belt.
Scout till around 10 am then shoot Prairie dogs till 4 pm then scout till dark.
I would make my base camp at Lyman lake and fish till around midnight.
Most of the time it was just me , myself and I.

Good luck!
A few years ago I took a 38-55 Marlin Cowboy antelope hunting using cast bullets and brought home my first 'lope!
You shouldn't have any problem with a long range rifle...![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
