In order:
1948 Willys CJ2A
1957 Willys DJ3A
(Two door handles, soft top and frame, windshield wipers, and an engine on a pallet for an M151. Closest I ever got to completing one :( )
1984 Bronco II
1978 Ford Ranger F250 with big block 400. What a great truck.
(A borrowed little car in New Zealand)
1982? Lincoln boat
Wrecked 1990s Lincoln my brother gave me
1990s Chevy Blazer
GMC Jimmy, dont remember the year, kind of new.
Ford Explorer
Ford minivan someone gave us. Drove it until the alternator went out, opened the hood, took one look at the inaccessible alternator, closed the hood, and gave the van away.
1984 Chevy Suburban 6.2 diesel. $300, drove it for years and still drive it now.
1990 Chevy Suburban 6.2 diesel. Drove it home a couple years ago, have yet to successfully drive it anywhere since.
1989 Chevy Suburban 6.2 diesel. $400. The guy was asking $1800. I was walking away when the guy asked me twice to make an offer, so I did.

In between all of that, I drove M3A2 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicles, HMMWVs, and a number of company trucks that did not belong to me.

This is about all of 'em I think --- didn't list the drag cars or the cars I have "flipped" very quickly

still have 6 , not counting my wife's Accord -- to be fair , the vintage steel are projects

Its kind of an sickness -- I know i'll never get to all my old trucks without paying a ton for professionals to take 'em off my hands and finish em, but I hold onto em regardless

1) 69 GMC 1500
2) 64 Fairlane 500 - RIP
3) 81 Monte Carlo-RIP

6) 97 F150 4wd-RIP
7) 75 C-10 Chevy
8) 88 S-10-RIP

15) 72 Chev. straight 6 stepside -RIP
16) 69 C-10 Long bed
17-20) (4) F 150 company trucks

Stuff I still have

1) 69 Chev 1500 - project
2) 69 GMC 1500- project
3) 75 C-10 454 - too much torque, not enough traction, permanent garage queen - almost not any fun
4) 91 S-15 GMC - mostly pasture use, but still use it a few times a week
5) 00 Wrangler -- driven a couple of times a week
6) '12 F-150--- driven almost daily

I won't list them all, just the good stuff.
1950 Ford coupe. V8 flathead. My first car in 1975 and a father son project.
1965 Ford Falcon. Cool little car that I drove through my H.S. years when not driving my Chevelle.
1969 Chevelle. Big block, 4 speed. Very streetable and ran 12.0's quarter. If I could have one car back, this would be the one.
1962 Corvette. Sold my Chevelle in 1980 to get this. Nice car.
1972 V8 4 speed tube chassis Vega in the early 1980's. High 11's with street tires and through the exhaust.
Two different 1978 Elcamino's that got me through the 1990,s.
1998 Ford F150.
Jeep Wrangler.
Presently I drive a 2005 Ford Ranger.

Motorcycles.
I have had several motorcycles. I've ridden for 42 years and have accumulated well over 400,000 miles. I still have a 1977 Kawasaki KZ 1000 LTD that my wife and I rode away from our wedding in 1980. And I also am riding a 2008 H-D Fatbob that my wife calls a Fatron. Can you guess my first name? I've had several hopped up Jap bikes with my fastest being a turbo 1000 Kawasaki in the mid 80's that was in the upper 9's and in the mid 140,s. That was flying back then with a stock chassis that handled very badly.

The one thing I have always wanted is a 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe. I want to build a 50's style custom with a flathead. That one probably won't happen because I was able to purchase my dream piece of property a few years back and at this point in my life my land is more important than another car. I have no regrets saying that because I dearly love my time at my woods.

1955 Chevrolet Nomad (got it in '69, still have it! :D )
1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door
1956 Chevrolet 2 door hardtop
1946 Willys CJ2A
1939 Chevrolet 2 door sedan (never got to drive it)
1969 Camaro (350 V-8 automatic)
1975 Ford Pinto wagon (my first new car purchase, traded the above Camaro in on it! )
1977 Ford F150 4x4
1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door hardtop (owned it 25 years, sold it last spring)
1994 Ford Ranger 4x4 (still have it)
1977 Ford Granada
1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera (it was a great little family car)
1965 Ford Falcon (2 door V-8 automatic)
2002 Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel (my first new truck, still driving it)
2005 Ford Five Hundred Limited (purchased last spring after selling my '56 Chevy)

The 1955 Nomad was my first car and served well as a bright yellow painted hot rod in my younger days. Between 1985 and 1994 I completely restored it back to very exact factory original condition. It does very well at car shows! :D

Tman, glad to see a Pontiac man. Owned two 67 GTO's, '57 Pontiac Super Chief, '40 International PU with a small block Chevy 400. The Super Chief had the V8347 ci. That thing wouldn't accelerate fast, but it was steady. I took it to 110 and lost my nerve for any faster. The GTO's were pure Pontiac grunt, lots of low end torque.

A few, but not all....
69 Chevelle (231, 6-cyl, 3 on the tree, four door...won a few street races since the boys who borrowed Daddy's Camero for Sat night cruising got nervous when you sandwiched them up against the guard rail with a dented car  )
77 T-bird. Took me all over the USA as one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. Smoothest riding vehicle I ever had
66 Buick Special.
84 Mazda pickup. 1st new vehicle ever
65 Ford F-100 Short wide 2-speed semi-automatic transmission (2nd was gone so you had to lift off the gas pedal so it would shift up to 3rd  )
86 Mercury Cougar. Ugliest Cougar ever.
80 Cavalier wagon. Gave $500 for it and drove it from coast to coast BC (before children)
84 Celebrity sedan
66 Carry-all 290 V-6 (old MT School bus complete with graffiti on ceiling and yellow paint)
86 celebrity wagon
90 Chevy Goodtimes van
92 Ford Taurus wagon
94 Ford F-150 4x4
97 Chevy Venture minvan
03 Chevy Z-71
03 Ford Focus (oldest daughter through HS and college. She still has it)
06 Chevy Uplander minvan
09 Ford Focus (youngest daughter though HS and into college)

I try to keep 'em 10 years or better now so I can buy the wife or I a new vehicle every 5 years. My Z-71 got a new front end after a deer wreck 2 years ago so I'm gonna try and milk 4 more years out of it. Most of it's miles are to and from MT and probably has 10k off-road miles

Wow! This has been an interesting exercise pulling up from memory all the vehicles I've owned from 1957 until today. In chronological order they were/are -

1951 Dodge Cornet sedan
1951 Ford Deluxe 2 door Flathead V8 coupe
1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 coupe
1960 Renault Dauphin sedan
1963 AMC Rambler coupe
1964 Lincoln Continental sedan
1970 AMC Matador sedan
1970 Datsun 2000 Roadster
1973 Pontiac Firebird coupe
1975 Chevrolet Malibu Classic sedan
1974 Toyota Land Cruiser
1979 Plymouth Horizon sedan
1985 Ford F150
1988 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L
1991 Ford Escort sedan
1989 Ford F150 XLT
1995 Volvo 850 sedan
1995 Ford Bronco XLT
1990 Volvo 240 sedan
1999 Ford F150 XLT
2001 Ford F150 XLT
1987 Ford F150
2005 Dodge Ram 2500
2013 Volkswagen Sportwagen TDI

My vehicle selections have been kind of eclectic over the years it seems. However, from this list, I see a 1/3 have been Ford products, six have been pick-ups and six have been European or Japanese. The rest have been all over the place. Has anyone else here ever owned a Renault Dauphin???

Man, I feel like a piker
'68 Nova, killed at a stop light. But it used to regularly beat my buddies '68 Camero with a 350.
'72 Fiat 124 wagon, hey, I was in Spain and at least the Fiat had safety glass and seat belts.
'72 Gran Torino, should never have sold it.
'78 LTD II, Sports Touring model, supposedly about 9000 made. Still got it.
'82 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler, still got it.
Yep, last car bought was in 1982.

76 Datsun F10
79 or 80 Dodge Omni
79 VW Scirocco (bought used while in Germany)
85 VW Golf
92 VW Jetta
95 VW Golf (still have it)
81 VW Rabbit Diesel (bought in 95)
84 VW Rabbit Diesel (bought in 96)
84 VW Rabbit Diesel (bought in 98)
08 Jetta Diesel (still have it)

Always had good luck with VW. Unfortunately they rusted out to the point of not being able to pass inspection... :(

'67 Nova - gift from Grandmother in 1980, commuted to college, then passed to little brother in 1982

'77 Chevette - bought in 1984, died in 1990 on the interstate near an Indiana catfish farm/auto garage, sold as parts for $30 (and was charged $25 for tow and $5 for catfish dinner)

'86 Volvo 740 - bought in 1993 with 80k miles, now has 230k and still going strong. Just patched tail-lights with alligator clips and separate battery. Sleeps one in the back seat.

Just a few, some esp recent pretty pedestrian but to a car (except Vega) ultra reliable

61 Buick Special Deluxe Station Wagon, 215 Aluminum V8 (my first (72) and still tops -want it back. Before its time.)
62 Buick Skylark coupe, 215 Alum V8, 4 bbl. Fun in thr straight line.
65 Corvair Monza coupe 164 ci/110 hp flat six, later converted in all specs to 66 Corsa 140-4 carb. 250k miles out on the two motors. Zero problems other than synching those 4 carbs occasionally! Most fun car I've owned, maybe driven.
78 Honda Accord, 5 Sp, amazing car actually. Could idle all day in 110 w/a/c full on and never overheat. Rare then.
79 Ford F-150 Super Cab short bed, worn 302 replaced w/ 351 Windsor, C6
88 Acura Integra LS 5 Sp/5 dr hatch. First gen of the rice rockets, nice, before the current large exhaust baloney.
96 Toyota Camry SE V6 coupe, leather, roof, great car
99 Toyota Solara SLEV6, one of nicest cars, disguised Lexus
03 Toyota RAV4 (almost forgot about, but quite the little goer in the moderately deep stuff)
06 Toyota Highlander Limited 4x4 -current daily driver. Mpg sucks round town but great vehicle otherwise. Neatly answered my quest for my 99 Solara that, when called upon, would magically gain 2" in clearance and morph into 4x4 (well, AWD) for snow and camp travel. The whole SUV/crossover justification, but I actually use.

Co-owned w/ family or friend/business partner:
63 Corvair Rampside pickup
63 Corvair Greenbrier van
64 Corvair Monza 4 Dr, 4 Sp
65 Corvair Monza 4 Dr, auto, a/c
66 Corvair Monza 4 Dr, auto, a/c
69 Corvair Monza Convertible 140/4 Sp/posi, last yr prod, 1 of 521, rare of rare. Found in one of lots used for Used Cars with Jack Warden and Kurt Russell IIRC. Figure rarer yet with maybe 10% with this equipment combo
...and variety of other Corvairs!
72 Chevy Vega GT - one of few misses. Generally no good. Great little handler but oh that motor, came darn close to a Buick aluminum V8 swap.
81 Honda Accord 4 Sp, ultra reliable. Best of the early Accords that rocked the auto industry out of its mediocrity.
86 Honda Accord. "More car" in every way, but lost some of early intangible smaller and simpler mojo.
72 BMW 3.0CS 4 Sp sunroof coupe. We did full restoration. Recaros, 3pc BBS, triple Webers

1968 VW Beetle
1975 Chevy Camaro
1976 Chevy Laguna SS
1969 Ford F100 4x4 (monster truck)
1966 Ford Bronco
1983 Ford F100 short box 4x4
1983 Dodge Shelby Charger
1985 Nissan Little Hustler 4x4
1987 GMC Sierra Classic 4x4
1993 Nissan Altima
1997 Nissan Maxima
2001 Nissan Maxima
2001 Ford Escape
2009 Nissan Sentra
2009 Kia Sportage 4x4

Couple weird things, Those Nissan Maxima's from my experience are one of the finest cars ever built.
The best going in slippery wet snow of any vehicle I have ever drove is that 2009 Kia Sportage with the ITM 3 Borg Warner with traction control and 4WD lock. I thought my 87 Gimmy with its 31" Wranglers was good but this Kia has it beat 3 ways to sunday.
Even has the 66 Bronco whipped. It is the same system they put in the twin turbo Porsche 911 Carrera.

Now in extreme tough axle breaking stuff, no
But when you have 6 inches of wet snow, the type of some as soon as you step on snow and look at footprint and it is solid wet ice this Kia going uphill from a start does not spin one tire. Its a 5 speed stick and ask the wife on our hill dirt long driveway what is best.
The tires on it are only firestone all season radials too.

The way the Kia works is --

Borg Warner ITM3-e which was also fitted to the Porsche 911!

System uses a computer-controlled clutch mechanism mounted in front of the rear axle to engage the drive. It is a Borg Warner system that can provide up to 99% of the torque to the front wheels, but automatically diverts up to 50% of the torque to the rear wheels when needed. The driver can push a button on the dash as an input to the computer, commanding it to “lock” the torque transfer at 50/50 for getting out of slippery parking spots in winter or plowing through some soft sand. It is more than capable of handling many off-road excursions.

Because the torque transfer to the rear wheels is variable, a dependable, durable clutch mechanism is needed that can be instantly engaged. To do this, the computer monitors wheel speed, accelerator pedal movement and steering inputs. When 4% or more front wheel slip is detected, the rear axle starts to engage. It can also anticipate the need for additional traction and engage the AWD system when the driver accelerates the vehicle. Another feature is it can disengage the rear axle during ABS events to optimize ABS stopping.

The computer controls a large solenoid coil in the clutch housing. When energized, the solenoid pushes against a multi-plate clutch, which in turn holds a washer-like plate from turning. Ramps and balls between this plate and a second plate cause the two plates to be forced apart, placing pressure on a second larger multi-plate clutch that connects the driveshaft to the rear axle. The path of torque is complete and the rear wheels drive.

A button on the dash can lock the clutch to provide 50% torque to the rear wheels, but this only occurs below 35 kph. Above that speed, the computer pulses the solenoid to disengage the clutch mechanism, but it will automatically engage it again when vehicle speed lowers.

Finally, the system monitors steering wheel angle. Turn the steering wheel, such as when parallel parking or turning a tight corner and the computer will decrease the torque applied to the rear wheels so there is no driveline binding during the turn.

Computer controls, electric solenoids and data communication between computers are all used to provide smooth traction regardless of the driving conditions and optimize fuel economy too. That’s modern all-wheel drive.

Yes, basically same car as we started with. About 5 coats later of Euro Glasurit p-u paint in original Fjord blau, and the BBSs (staggered 16" believe it or not a big deal at the time) it was more amazing yet. Balanced/blueprinted, Mahle pistons, Schrick cam and headers and springs, tuned Bilsteins from Hardy & Beck--Alan Hardy himself very generous in consulting throughout--as said full Recaro interior, Stroth racing harness (no racing, but just to have a better/safer seat belt), a/c upgrade to Japanese rotary compressor (sorry German purists, but a/c never a forte...) etc, etc. Surprised I remember this stuff (Corvair Checker Auto belt^-actually quite good-was a 56015 :) ) but lived n breathed this stuff for awhile! Back to the BMW, we did some, shopped out the heavy stuff, a lot locally but were very hands on, but decided would have been much cheaper to have flatbedded ut to Berkeley and just have Hardy & Beck just do the whole thing...and a lot quicker! Only changes we wish we'd done is 5 Sp Getrag conversion, 3.5 cyl head, and fuel injection from a 528i or 635i (at the time) etc., but were pretty tapped out by those decision points!

This is gonna take some work...

1) Hand-me-down '66 F100. New paint, new motor, head on crash in that order.
2) '73 Merc. Comet. Bought off my sister for $50, Dad had grown tired of trying to keep it running. Tune up and drove the pee outta it till a valve dropped.
3) '71 Olds Cutlass. Someone decided that the rear drivers lug nuts were to snug so they loosened them up while I was in class at the local college. 5 miles later and the tire went thru the quarter panel. That and a bad tranny sent it to the bone yard.
4) '77 T-Bird. Bad tranny, sent to bone yard.
5) '74 Comet. Stop gap vehicle while I got some finances in order. Don't know what I did with it.
6) '79 Monte Carlo. Another crash and another burnt up tranny. Sold to a guy who wanted a stock car.
7) '74 F100. Bought off a buddy as a hauler. Sold it?
8.) '85 T-Bird. One of the best vehicle deals I've had. Traded after a couple years on #10.
9) '70 Chevy C10. Hunting truck. Tired of wrenching on it after motor #2 thru a rod. Sold it.
10) '85 Ext. Cab, 8' Bed F150. My first 4x4. Great truck, sold it with 200K, shouldn't have.
11) '89 Grand Wagoneer. Possibly the worst of the Chrysler Jeeps made. Sold it after a new motor and with a bad tranny. I think the list of what didn't break on this is shorter than what did.
12) '97 Silverado. Great Truck. Put 140K on it (bought it used with 90K) before tranny let go. It was wearing out and decided I was gonna try a small truck.
13) '00 S10 ZR2. Ebay buy, too small, total turd, gas milage wasn't much if any better than a full size. Sold!
14) '95 F150. Bought with a bad motor. New crate motor and some cosmetic TLC and it's my favorite truck of all of em. Sits now with another bad motor :( . Probably gonna punt it down the road too and buy a '70-'85 project truck. Going with the KISS system of things.
15) '97 Caravan. Bought cheap as an experimnt to use as a service van. It paid for itself many times over. Now I've a new job, I aquired #17 and it's no longer needed. Gave it to my daughter for X-mas.
16) '98 Cherokee. Bought cheap as a play rig (Jeep Club) for me and as a driver for my daughter while she saved for her own car. She has the van, now it's my play rig.
17) '04 Merc Mountaineer. Bought for $2200 a couple months ago with 100K for a sales driver. Very clean and straight. Still waiting for it to break so I can figure out why I got it so cheap :?: Still workin great after the first 5K I've put on it.

All this doesn't count the handfulls of wife/family/kids vehicles, they get the nice ones. Nor motorcycles and atv's. Like with guns, after having so many I think I'm getting things figured out what I want/need. Give me a DD vehicle and an old pick up and I'm happy.

Neither... I think!? :P :P A little back-story on each.
Griff wrote:I'll start (in order of acquisition)
'50 Ford Woody w/flathead V-8 - bought for $50 sans battery. 15yo, Dad made me return it the next day... I'd been riding my bike, haulin' a 9'6" surfboard on a homemade trailer the 18 miles to the beach and back... figured by the time I could get my license I'd have the car lined out... Hey, plus with the serape for a seat cover, it was "cool"!!!

'59 3100 p/u w/354ci Heni & Torque-flite - bought it off Pop, but it went thru tires faster than it did gas... and that's sayin' something. Even at 25¢/gal, it was expensive to drive! That, and that 9'6" board got beat to heck on the tailgate!

'55 Chev 210 wgn w/283 & Powerglide - traded the truck for this one. Wrecked into a '67 Police cruiser with a drunk at the wheel. Body torqued 3" to the right... Somehow I ended up w/o a ticket.

'55 Chev 210 sedan w/above eng & trans, then a 427 L-88 & 4 spd, now w/fi 350 & 700R4 ^ - Bought this one as a rollin' chassis and put the 283 & powerglide from the wagon in it. A few weeks after Christmas 1967 older brother called me and told me to grab Pop's p/u (he had a '58 3100 Fleetside with 283 & 4/spd and come pick up this defective engine - L-88 with bad piston, Chevy told the dealer he worked at to junk the engine... it was my auto class project. "British Racing Green" with black leather interior done in Tijuana...

'55 VW van - needed a surf van to carry the board! Transaxle gave up the ghost. Sold.

'59 VW trk - a freebie from a neighbor that didn't like their kid with a junker. Just needed to be timed... ran fine. Sold to another surfer when I bought:

'63 VW van - surf van found abandoned in a gas station in Dana Point. Paid the storage charges and it was mine. But... someone had left a bag of potatoes in it. Stank to high heaven and infested with fruit flies. Girlfriend wouldn't ride in it. See next. Parted it out.

'67 Ford Cortina - moved back home and this was my incentive. Gave it to my then fiance when I was stupid. Ended up getting repossessed. Heck, I gave her the payment book along with it!

'57 VW bug assembled w/1835cc from previous van, '51 Porsche front axle, '55 Porsche transaxle and '59 bellypan. It was my project car, but didn't finish it for almost 2 years, cause I left home again. Finished while waiting for an original birth certificate to arrive from NZ to prove my US citizenship. They wouldn't take my passport because it was expired! Wife sold it during my second deployment to VN. Something about the wiring fryin'... Lights quit workin'!

Had the next ones out of order:
'50 Chev sedan delivery w/302 & 4 spd - after hitch-hiking across the country... CA to LA to NE to FL to NJ, ended up in Omaha working for a body shop in 1969. I learned how to do glass work, body work and upholstery. Painter had a side business doin' custom work and I also worked there as his helper. Education at it's best... OJT! Bought the delivery in Council Bluffs for $25 since it didn't run... Actually, the guy wanted $50, but agreed to $25 if I could drive it out of his driveway. Flat tire and wouldn't start, dead battery and stale gas, or so the fellar said. A can of ether, a 12 volt jolt to the 6-volt system & a new tire; I drove it outta his driveway. It had a 235 IL-6 and 3 on the tree... after a friend wrecked his '69 Z-28, I ended up buying his engine & trans. I put an Olds station wagon one-piece w/s in it, '66 GTO bucket seats, and '50 Buick rear quarter panels so I'd have two taillights... it only had the one in the center behind the spare tire on the single rear door. Removed the double humps in the top of the dash and installed a '64 Chevelle instrument cluster. Tuck 'n rolled the dash, seats and headliner all the way back. New mahogny wood floor in the rear, with 1/8" paneling on the sides... It was great workin' in a full service body shop! Drove this one home to enlist. Sold 11 years later with the same primer paint job for $9K. He offered $4K the day I drove it in the folks' driveway and kept uppin' his offer til the day the folks said they were sellin' the place and I'd have to find room at my place or sell it! Included in the deal was a bare small block Chevy block that'd been bored to 4.25" and clearanced to run a 4.25" crank, that'd make a 452ci. I wanted to make a small block powered v-drive flat bottom boat to terrorize the "big" guys on the River... out by Earp, CA... but when I went to have it final honed and all the casting marks removed, we found a casting flaw in the #3 hole... just so much junk. Sleevin' in wasn't an option that I could afford... so I scrapped the boat idea. Yes, I'm a "gear-head"!!!

The same fellar also had this one, which I forgot... '48 Chev panel truck. It was a faded yellow with the red "Coca-Cola" lettering on the side. Engine was siezed. Owner said, since I got the other one runnin' I could have this one. Towed it to the shop and after doin' the engine swap on the '50, I put the 235ci in this'n, re-did the paint exactly as it was. Finished it on a Saturday nite... on Sunday morning parked it on the sidewalk in front of the shop to make room inside to work on one of the boss' cars... Guy in a suit walked in and offered $2,500 for it... he didn't care whether it ran or not. He owned the Coca-Cola distriburship there and wanted it! Apparently he'd driven that when he was a kid workin' for his Dad.

'57 Chev Bel-Air w327 & power-glide - used that $2,500 and bought this to fix up and sell. Clean car until some drunk decided to use the side of it to slow down. Peeled the sheet metal off like a can opener. Sold to my boss for $1K. Left Omaha for CA and the Navy.

'50 Pontiac sedan w/straight 8 - Moved back home to enlist, and bought this from a co-worker of my Mom's... drove this while assemblin' the beetle. Trans gave up on the freeway. Sold for the tow fee.

'63 Corvair w/6 cyl * wife's car when we dated and first got married. She sold it while I was in VN the first time...

'65 Alfa Romero Giulia Ti Super (probably the funnest car to drive I've ever owned). Bought this off a friend of my wife's, her hubby had "rebuilt" the engine and needed the cash. Ended up seizing the motor while racing a 911 thru Sunset Beach.

'70 Austin America * wife's brother gave her this one and he sold the Giulia after redneckin' the bearings so it'd at least run.

'71 Chev Vega - Wanted something to park on base... and it was a neat yellow color. Traded it off on:

'74 Chev K-10 - bought to shoe horses with. 350 V-8 with 4spd compound low trans, no power anything except steering. Drove it till gas prices drove me to the Toyota!

'74 Datsun F-10 * - what a pile! Traded for the 260Z...

'74 Volvo * - got it from the in-laws when they upgraded to a Mercedes. Great car, until the cam belt broke!

'63 VW bug w/1835cc & installed baja kit - bought while I was shoein' horses as a project and doin' a little off-roadin' in the desert. Sold when a pard made me an offer I could NOT refuse. Shoulda... it was a great little huntin' vehicle for a day trip up the Cleveland Nat'l Forest for coyotes.

'77 Toyota p/u - gas prices drove me to stoop this low! Pushed off the road and rolled it on the way home from work in a mudslide.

'72 K-5 Blazer - After the Toyota was fixed, traded it off for this'n... 350hp 350ci & TH350 Trans. Detroit locker in the rear end, limited slip diff in the front, 4.11s and 35" gumbo mudders. And about 200k miles off road and on. Sold to my huntin' partner when the cam finally went flat. Shouldn't have!

'64 Chev K-20 p/u - Dad said a "man" is never without a truck. Sold and bought the '88.

'82 Volvo * - leased this one after the '74 gave up the cam belt... would've bought it after the lease, but the leasing company was flat unreasonable.

'80 Olds Cutlass wgn - 350 diesel... TH 200 trans... bought from a co-worker who had nothing but trans trouble with it. Great little daily driver... got about 22 mph until the fuel pump went out... GM warranteed it... but... fuel milage went south with the new pump. Traded in on Camaro after moving to TX and I could not seem to fix the vacuum operated brakes...

'82 Chev Celebrity *+ bought this former leased company car from Avis for the wife after the Volvo... Super little car, 2-door, completely "blacked-out", all the badges had been removed except for the Chevy emblem in the steering wheel... got asked all the time what kinda car it was. Gave it to my son.

'88 Chev V-30 4WD p/u - new "man's" p/u. Put 177K miles on the 454. Best trailer hauler ever. Passed everything but gas stations! Traded for 2005.

'91 Chev Camaro *+^ - Wanted a Z-28, but in '91 they had the world's ugliest spoiler on the tail, and only came with an auto. This RS came with the 305 throttle body injection and a 5 speed. One 4th gear synchro and 2 differentials later, this one is in the garage with 197K on the odometer waiting on a crate engine. Wife's patience is getting thin. It was an impulse buy... went to get the Cutlass safety inspected, but the brakes went out on the way... stopped in at the dealer and left in this. Told the wife, "... hi Darlin', see what I bought you!" That's how it became "her" car.

'57 Chev 3100 p/u, bought in So TX for $150... great stock truck. But... it had the "big" back window. And a red-neck with skin cancer doesn't need that much sunshine! 'Sides, the grille is ugly, while the '55 is good lookin'! Traded 3 days later for:

55-½ Chev 3100 p/u ^ - completely stock, unmolested truck. Only had to replace the rear corners of the cab due to a little rust. Even the stepwells were solid! Part of the trade was the seller (custom shop), putting a '74 Camaro front clip on it. I then boxed the frame, put in a "bump" to have the rear axle sit on top of the springs, 4-wheel discs, giving it a 4" & 6" drop front 'n rear. It's currently sittin' in pieces in the barn, waiting on time, money and energy to rebuld the L-88 & 4 spd from the sedan to drop in it. Yep, I really want to burn up tires!

'03 Chev C-10 p/u *^ - "wife's" Camaro started over-heating... so bought her this little p/u. Was going to get a Suburban, as she always complained that I bought nothing but 2drs, and what does she ask for? Regular cab 2WD p/u!

'05 Chev K-3500 4WD p/u ^ -a/c quit in the '88... and Chevy was offering "employee" pricing, this thing's got every option they offer except, DVD player (I ain't ever in the back seats anyway), electric pedals, and sunroof (again, I don't need ANY extra sun)!

* wife's
+ then mine
^ still owned
So... you tell me... fickle? There's several of those that I sure wish I still had!

I'm 43 and have only owned three. I drive them til they die.

81 Buick Regal-paid $700 in 1989 and drove it four years.
91 Pontiac Grand Prix-sporty but roomy, ate up alternators
01 Ford F150-still drive this one everyday. Thinking of getting a car and extending the life of this really nice truck.

First to last more or less:
75 F250 4 x 4 bought it brand new, and I still own it, use it on the farm
71 VW Super Beatle
74 super Beatle
79 Dotson pickup
77 Dodge sedan
81 P. Horizon (I finally gave up on this car and let someone have it for 200 and take over payments at only 50,000 miles) it soured me on that make for a long time.
85 Masda Pickup
78 Mercury Cougar ( it was kind of rough when I bought for only 750 dollars, but it had leather seats and a sun roof, I loved that old car and kept it for many years, I wish I could buy one like it new today.
79 Jeep CJ-5 ( pretty good old rig, tough as could be, bought it as a wreck for $1100 dollars, fixed it up some and drove it for a lot of years as a hunting and bad weather rig. It would go anywhere, but was dangerous as heck, it's a wonder I never wrecked it. got 1500 in a trade for a 75 K5 Blazer, but I wish I had kept that old jeep for the farm.
77 Caddy (pretty good old car, kept it for a long time too) Had a hundred thousand on it when I bought it, for $2000
83 F250 4 x 4, still got it, put a new engine in it this year, still use it for hauling cattle, bad weather, etc.
75 K5 Blazer, drove it for years, put a new 350 in it and my son has now owned for close to 10yrs and still a daily driver for him.
92 Ford short wide 2 wheel drive, bought it from my brother in law. I knew he had done a lot of work on it, I thought it would surely make a decent truck but proved to be a troublesome piece of junk, which barely made it to a used dealer where I traded it for an 03 Chevy short wide, which my daughter still drives. The Chevy has been a good truck.
77 Suburban 2 wheel drive, pretty good old rig, finally traded it in on an 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee
02 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Still own it, been a pretty good rig, bought it with 19000 on it, has about 190000 on it now.
89 Jimmy 4 x 4 (same rig as a K5 Blazer) Bought it with only around 70,000 on it, still own it.
98 Ford F150 4 x 4 short wide (bought from a guy at work, for only $2,200, all it needed was a new set of tires. Finally put a new Battery and a windshield wiper arm on it this winter. I like this truck a lot.

That's about it, and all of my rigs are getting old, but they are pretty dependable and I don't have any car payments, and I like it that way. I pretty much don't buy anything anymore that isn't 4 wheel drive, because I live on a mountain with a steep north faced road, just like tonight, it's covered with ice and snow, and I doubt I could have made it home in 2WD. Some winters it wouldn't matter, but you just never know.
