Pronghorn is back, again.
You all may recall when I got last fall's pronghorn mount back from the taxidermist and I found it wasn't my cape.

Well the tannery sent him another cape. I went out to look at it, and it wasn't mine either. So at that point my taxidermist gave me two options. He said he would take my horns off and just mount them on a plaque or something and give me my money back, or he could try to color the mount to look like mine did. I told him to go ahead and do the airbrushing and dye the hair the best he could to try and make it look "right". I think he did a pretty good job, and truthfully if I had picked it up like this the first time, I don't think I ever would have been able to tell or notice is wasn't my original cape. It's still not the ideal outcome, but it's the best I'm going to get, and considering everything else, I'm pleased with it.
Here's the before and after the makeover.

The good part is the taxidermist was willing to make it right, that doesn't always happen.

Nice mount. I hope to get drawn next fall. Glad your Taxidermist made it better.
Re: Pronghorn is back, again.
I kind of got the impression your taxidermist was caught in the middle on this one. I'm thinking it was a situation he wasn't aware of either. Glad it worked out for everyone.

Re: Pronghorn is back, again.
Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. I doubt I'll every know what exactly happened to my animal. But until I find out something different I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. He did seem genuinely concerned about making sure I left happy. I guess that's all we can ask.Rusty wrote:I kind of got the impression your taxidermist was caught in the middle on this one.
