PRICE CHECK - S&W Model 10-6
Hi Folks!
S&W Model 10-6. Has some holster wear, but does not appear to have
been fired much. Nice trigger, crane and cylinder tight. The local
gun shop is asking $250. Whaddya think? I've always wanted a basic

The heavy barrels are really nice. They have good balance too. To me anyway the tapered barrels seem to heavy in my hand like there's no barrel out there to feel. $250 isn't a bad price though. Stoke it up with some +P's or +P+ and you have a really good stopper. With mild SWC's it's a great handgun to introduce a newcomer to the sport.

Thanks, Gentlemen!
It followed me home today.
Sorry, no pics - I have no digital camera at the moment.
Apparently this gun was bought by an auxiliary policeman
way back in the 60s or 70s. He died recently, and his relatives
found it in a drawer and didn't want it, so took it to the nearest
gun store. A box of ammo (from 1972 if the paperwork with it is
to be believed!) and a duty holster was included. I've looked it
over pretty closely, and I'd be surprised if it had more than a
coupla boxes of shells through it.
I can't wait to get down to the range with it.

Bought a hvy barrel in 4", blue for about that price last Fall here in MI.
Carried a 4" nickle for years. Have had it worked over by Magnaport.
I prefer the tapered barrel.
You did all right and you'll like it.
John Browning designed the 1911 but the Model 10 was created by Almighty.
There's a guy on CSP Guntalk reloading site who's really knowledgable in S&W and Model 10's specifically. PM for more info.
