Birdin' time again!

Post by OldWin »

Bird season is always a blast around here. Nice weather and scenery, tons of fun but the time goes way too fast. No where near as many birds as last year, but a few here and there. Tastiest things in the woods!

Yeah, bird season is right up there on my list of favorites.

You are correct Nath. It's actually an 870 youth. It has a 3" chambered 21" barrel with screw-in chokes. I like shorter barrels for my bird guns. Usually no more than 22" on a repeater and 26" on my doubles.

I more or less posted the jeep pic for you six. I knew you wouldn't care about the hick or the 870. :D

Casastahle,
This was a weekday. My hot wife is in the jeep with me on Saturdays.

Looks like you had a great day. I squeezed in a three day hunt late September in Northern Alberta. We got a few grouse. They make camp supper a real treat. I introduced a buddy to hunting, on the trip, and the first grouse he killed, was a real big deal!

samb,
Yeah there ain't no better eatin'. I always said if partridge weighed 200lbs I wouldn't even bother with deer.
I like to slice the breast meat down and through it in a frypan with a couple pieces of slab bacon, maybe a little onion. A big ole pile of homefries and maybe some fiddleheads. Dang! Now my mouth is watering and I'm hungry.
Good on you for taking your friend. Bird hunting is a great way to start someone. It's how I got my wife to go with me.
