Found me a 32 spl.

Post by Mossyoak1957 »

I always had a fondness for the 32Spl. ever since I killed my first deer with a borrowed 32 Spl. back in 1971.

I found this one at a gun show a few weeks ago.

Marlin 336 SC 32 Spl. Mfg.1960

all it needed was a good cleaning,I mean A GOOD CLEANING,I added a Leupold straight 4x scope and Leupold quick release base and rings.

I did have to make a new butt plate spacer the old one was missing,,,, I saw a Marlin one time the guy had painted the spacer and grip spacer red and liked it so I did mine that way,I used the new Krylon paint for plastic, seem to stick well.

I do need to find an original round front sight hood for it.

I can't wait to get this in the woods for Pa deer season in Dec.

This is the last 2 shots after sighting in the new scope....50yards

Nice rifle in a great caliber! Looks to be a good shooter also. You won't have any excuses this fall.
I throw out the sight hoods the day a buy them ,to each their own I guess.

Glad you found one - don't see too many of them around. Looks like a nice gun...!

The red spacers look nice.

I had one on grips I made as a kid for my Super Blackhawk (had to do that because I sanded them too much so there was a gap between left and right panels).

The 32 Special is one of my all-time favorites. Lot's of old interesting molds for the 32-40 can be used in the Special. Very cool that you found a Marlin chambered for it.

I have two .32 Specials. A 336 and a 94. Both are good shooters. The rifling twist rate makes the 170 gr. bullet (jacketed or cast) the best weigh for it. Enjoy!!

.

That's a nice-looking M336SC (Sporting Carbine).

I didn't realize Marlin was still chambering the.32Spec that late (1960).

one of my hunting buds when I lived and hunted back east had a Marlin in .32spl., the only one I had ever seen and shot...he was deadly with that rifle and cartridge combo...from what I hear he still hunts with it...

Mossyoak1957 -- nice Marlin, like the knife too... :)

The 32WS is a fantastic cartridge. I have several and they are consistently very good shooters. Most of mine are Winchester rifles and carbines but I have a model 1936 Marlin that is an incredible shooter. You made a great score!

Love me my 32 Special Marlin. Is a 336 A, and a good shooter. In the woods, hard to beat for deer. Federal 170's.

Nice find! Love the cartridge. Have a couple and since acquiring my Winnie carbine in .32, my 30-30's have not been out of the safe during deer season for almost a decade. You'll be pleased.
