My New Cellar Range (photo’s:-)
Made the mistake of taking a trip up to the Harrisburg East Mall today.

I have one of those traps a s well. I've found that I get a lot of lead splash that comes back through the target and ends up on the floor in front of the trap. My next thing I do to it will be to put some cedar shavings in the base of the trap to see if I can cut some of that down.

Noticed that myself, I was thinking of using some sand in the bottom.Rusty wrote:I have one of those traps a s well. Trap ideas...
I have the same type of trap...
...AND target!!
What you want to do is (a) put some course sand in the back and (b) clip an oversize corrugated piece of cardboard to cover the entire front, as that will help stop the splashback. I actually duct-taped my first piece in place, and then I just replace the centers (when I shoot well, that is...)
I also found that 3 or 4 12-inch lengths of old jeans legs (or old shot bags) filled with sand and placed on the back of the trap, will help cutdown on the noise.
Tight groups!

Thanks for the good sugestions Old No7.
I do believe if I improved my cellar lighting, I could do
better on the groups. So far I am very happy with the little Colt.
Today was the first time in my life I ever shot a 22 short(CB).
Much fun and very mild in the noise dept.
Any of you ever hunt tree rats with them?
How do they perform on game?

nice setup. I have to give the shooting the .22 indoors a try. I shoot my .22 air rifle and the .20 also but not true firearms boosted by powder. On my trap, I get the lead dust and spatter also. I will try to make the changes to the shooting setup in my basement with an upgrade to a .22lr trap, the sand and the cardboard. Love this forum.
