Post by Windjammer »

What is a nice Winchester 1890 selling for nowadays? It's in very good condition. Made in 1905. In 22 short.

2nd Model, blued receiver, 1890's will sell for $450-$1500 depending on the condition and amount of original finish, sights, and bore condition. Without pictures that's the best I can do.

Go over to auctionarms and gunbroker, then look at the closed and sold auctions. You'll see what comparables are selling for.

On the 1890 Winchesters, bore condition is important. On a lot of the 1890's the bore will be pitted. The use of black powder and mercuric priming compond plus lax cleaning ruined many early .22's.Condition is also a factor in price. Most 1890 receivers will show varied amounts of blueing flaking. This is commen on Winchester's receivers of that era. Expect a premiem in the price for a case colored receiver. Standard blued receiver pricing should be $2,500.00 for mint examples and around $750.00 to $500.00 for 80%1890's. Also check for bolt cracking on early guns.
