I've got 4 boxes of these coming in the mail. Anyone loaded up any yet? Recommended loads? Performance (on bears especially), noticebly more flat shooting?
Thanks!

Re: 348 Winchester FLEX TIP Bullets
I'm curious also, especially as to how they hold up on larger animals.
The standard Hornady 200 gr bullets havce a decent BC, about .300. I wonder what the rubber tips are for BC? Their claim to fame in 30-30 was compared to the lowest BC bullet on the market, then they used different line of sight height, and different sight in distances to make the leverevolution loads look better in comparison than they really are in a true side by side comparison, and with better BC bullets (like almost everything else on the market oither than the Hornady 170's the used for comparison)
Edit: Interesting, I recall the standard 200's being about .300 BC, they show about .248 now. My memory may be incorrect, though they seem to shoot quite flat when sighted a couple inches high @ 100 yards. I can hold on the top edge of the 18" plate @ 300 yards and hit it. The new bullets show .320 BC

Re: 348 Winchester FLEX TIP Bullets
Flex tips are not near as tough as interlocks and I have seen 30 and 35 cal used on deer and they would of failed the elk test they open to quick and come apart, for elk bear and moose the 200 hdy interlock works fine. If you have a chance to run into a brn bear get some beartooth 245 gr hardcast they penetrate. danny

I may try some of them (245 gr cast) Danny. I keep some Barnes 250's in my belt for up on the mountain, but dont know much about how they compare to the Hornady 200's. I recall you mentioning that the Hornady 200's penetrated most of the way through elk at off angles, like 24" or more penetration.

Re: 348 Winchester FLEX TIP Bullets
Yea I got 30+" on a raghorn at about 70-75 yds caught him quartering away found the bullet under the skin by the brisket tore up lungs and heart that hdy left the barrel at 2450 fps still weighed 186 grs. In a pinch I'd use it on a brn bear. Those beartooth are good bullets thats what I load when I go in the north slope alder thickets looking for elk with a 30-30 or 348. danny
