Yep, and this morning it's probably the worst so far.

I think it's a morning thing. It was really bad this morning, took several refresh attempts to load a page, even if it didn't time out.

I've poked around and determined that I can't locate the issue. Shucks, I can't even replicate it. Not that that's much comfort to you guys. My guess is that the Department of Homeland Security has tightened up their surveillance or something. But all seriousness aside, I've put out a call to someone who can dig deeper than I can and hopefully come up with a diagnosis and (hopefully) a fix.

Hmmm, maybe anointing my monitor with oil and laying hands on the CPU then exorcising Windows was worth the time and effort...

This is the issue I am having, on my home computer I have Windows 7 and zero problems with the form loading.
On my work computer running windows XP it takes upto 30 or 40 seconds to load and it looks like a word document.

Iam running win8 and firefox it takes 30 seconds to connect to the forum & 25-30 seconds to load each thread. plus a couple of trys to post. There is a glitch somewhere. danny
Guys, can you pinpoint a specific time bracket as to when it's running slow? I'd appreciate it if you'd post here what local time it is when you experience this. So far it continues to run smooth for me. BUT we're doing our best to track it down. Go ahead and post in this thread something like "Slow loading" or "locked up" "at 4:34 a.m. EDT" or "7:09 PDT" or "at 1:55 p.m. Greenwich time) or whatever happens and what time it happens. If we can identify a specific time window then perhaps we can identify what else is going on on the server at that time.
Thanks for your patience and help!

Paul, FWIW, I can't post when it's acting up, because I can't bring up the forum at all !
I just get times-outs, etc.
The times that I've tried, unsuccessfully are (variously) 7AM, 9AM, 11AM, 2;30PM, & 4;30PM - all Eastern Daylight Savings Time - over the past 4 days or so.
The only time the forum seems "normal" is after 6PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time.
Maybe the Russky hackers all fall asleep by then..................
You're right, if you can't bring it up, you can't post. On the other hand, if you can keep track of times it happens, maybe we can figure something out. I'll pass your time list on up the chain to see what it might reveal...

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
I tried once this morning, it did the same thing it does every morning.
To those saying it's working fine, yes, it is right now. But in the mornings it is basically non functional. If you read through the posts you will see what is happening and when.

Had trouble getting into this forum this moring at 7.30 am today(california time)...thursday. When I finally get into the forum and read posts, the back button will not return me to the other posts section. I just end up with a white/ blank screen. Have to then close internet explorer and attempt to get back into forums.
This has happened every day at the same time since last sunday. The afternoons and evenings run perfect.
A strange thing also happened this morning. When I tried the back button as above, I had a strange image appear on the screen... sort of looked like a multicolored peach that was cut in half, and looked like it had been painted by a 5 yearold. No, I dont do drugs or take medications. I ran a couple of scans and found a virus, and I have a feeling I picked it up from this website.
The virus was ROOTKIT.OAccess. You guys may want to check that out. Apparently it hides in filders and is very difficult to find and remove.
yeah, if you have a rootkit installed it means that a hacker has control of your machine and does whatever he wants to without you knowing or being able to see it.
are you that hacker?
if not it would behoove you and your friends on this forum if you would take your computer offline and get that issue resolved before you log in again.
also, it would be good for an admin to examine the server files to determine if there is a rootkit there, or on the domain that hosts the forum.
rootkits are the scourge of the internet and it is a full time job at most institutions to combat them. the service provider that hosts this site SHOULD have that covered.

Grizz,
No, I am not a hacker.
Malwarebytes detected it this morning. I run it everyday and this evening, and everything comes up clean. I have not been to many other sites this week. My situation could be competely unrelated to this sites problem. Just thought I would mention it, at was quite alarming to see the image on my screen, and I have not picked up any viruses of the net in 2 months. Famous last words.....touch wood.
Paul, here in the UK GMT I have no problem logging on at 08.00 hrs or after 22.00 hrs but mid day GMT I can't log on, if I do manage to get on, it closes down if I try to post and I've also noticed that when it's playing up some of the smileys and the post reply and new topic buttons do not always appear, sometimes the page even comes up as a document.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
flatnose, did your av do something with the rootkit? because unless it is successfully quarentined the hacker still has control of your computer, if it is in fact a rootkit and not just a virus named rootkit. if you have a rootkit, every time your computer is on and online the hacker has full use of your computer. this is how DOS attacks happen, thru the use of thousands of captured computers. the outsider also has access to all of your personal info, banking, credit cards, and passwords, to do with whatever he wants.
generally rootkits are invisible and very difficult to detect because they mask themselves, are shape shifters, and control av programs to make them appear to be doing something they are not.
to begin to find out you would have to disconnect from the internet and boot unix/linux from an optical disc and then search for the out of place file, and maybe run an av program from the alt operating system. there are some linux versions designed to do this. there are some rootkits that can survive a re-install even if you choose to reformat.
No matter what virus you have on your PC
If you had Acronis installed prior to obtaining the virus----it is virtually impossible for it to hide.
Example----Acronis installed May 15 (system runs fine)and May 30 system is kludged(you picked up something)
Acronis backed up on an external Hard Drive then with a Complete (system purge)and reinstall it is exactly as it was on May 15
Top Military Programs use this system as a backup==========so it's good enough for us!
Forum responses are all over the place. Time-outs, half loads (like this image)
or regular quick, immediate responses and loads. I've tried posting this since 0855 this am. Before that, I tried to respond to a query about a 94 issue. All types of issues... but speed and complete loading of pages is truly 'hit-or-miss'. This will be my 4th attempt.

that is a strong counter and one of the primary defenses against rootkits. institutions use a file compare software to discover intruders, because of the file bloat you would know that unauthorized software was in your files.
but, the issue could be a forum member's computer, or many of them. the issue could be a router, or several of them. routers are just computers dedicated to passing tcp/ip traffic around networks. or it could be the servers that the host of this site uses are compromised. that one happened to me when my isp was taken over by a chinese operator and my publishing website was compromised.
so, it's multi-dimensional and needs systematic troubleshooting to solve.
Made it into the forum after 2 attempts at 6.50 am california time. Still could not navigate using back button. Repeated attempts to log on between 7.00 am and 7.40 mostly failed... 4 out of 5 times.
Thanks Grizz. I will research further and see if I still have issues. Nothing else is showing on current virus scans, and computer performance seems normal. Just seems I have problems with this forum.

It's not U or anyone else, no member digging is required...
After smugly watching others with this problem the last few days, I got hit by the bug this morning - smartphone (Blackberry) - my 90% mode these days - that's normally immune to anything hitting the computers. Being locked out, then loading and posting taking forever and several tries only on this site. Have not tried the PC but will this afternoon.

Ohhhhh...that's gotta hurt.
Having trouble loading 11:20 AM Mountain time.
I have a little trick, I watch the little swirly circle in the tab, if it's going counterclockwise and makes it past 6 o'clock I re click the tab for whatever I'm trying to do. It seems to average about 3 repeats then boom it works.
Except when trying to post this, went right to the google chrome server disconnected notice.
