Chicken raider!

Post by Nath »

Early o'clock got me bumping into what appeared to be a dog fox but in actual fact was a large vixen.
Right next to a free range chicken unit,,,,,need I say more!

Eye to eye and by the time I gently shouldered the rifle whilst watching the cogs going around in her eyes, she turned and a rushed shot crippled one of her back legs.

Breaking out into a field left of me and by the time I got to a gap in the hedge she offered me a going away shot at around 100yds. She was slightly going left and so I aimed down her left side. The next shot raked her back to front and it was over.

No attach one to Tia, I want to see Nath taking the shot (I'm sure Tia watches him like a fox (pun intended), and the view of her bounding thru the field on the way to retrieve could be edited in slow mo and you could have Bolero playing as the sound track.

Nath, you must be a real hero around there. Killing a fox around a chicken farm makes you a real life saver.

Great pictures. Tia sure looks proud of you on that retrieve. When she sees other dogs, you know she brags about her human.

Nath,

I assume the factory FMJ load was 158 grain. Do you ever use any other weights or bullet styles for anything?

Sure, 180fmj and 4.7grns of green dot for a rabbit load, close to super sonic.
Image

I just developed a a reversed fmj 158grn bullet to do the same on 4.8grn of green dot.

I am just getting some recipes together for Hornady xtp's on H110 and A2400.
I did have a good load on H4227 and just found out it is discontinued! :(

I love playing around with this cartridge, very versatile indeed.
