According to Davidson's the front sight is a "Marble Carbine". What I don't know is if it's dovetailed and therefore windage adjustable.
If it is, I might have a solution to a dilemma...
Thanks!

awp101,
The front sight on the Marlin 1895 CB I handled was dovetailed into the barrel.

Thanks guys! My dilemma has been whether or not to get the Buffalo Classic or the 1895CB.
I like the price of the BC, I like the sight arrangement of the BC, I like the looks of the 1895CB.
Since the front sight is dovetailed on the 1895 it looks like I could get a Lyman sight set and have the best of both worlds.
Unless someone has a good reason that it's a bad idea...

I don't think you can go wrong with the 1895CB. I have one and really like it. I will probably bring it this summer to the Lever Gun Safari, if you have not made a decision by then you are more then welcome to try mine out.

Got both and would advise you to do the same . How else could you be fair in evaluating which you like the best
And I believe that you would also end up keeping both . also wouldn't get rid of guide guns

The sad truth is, that's exactly what will probably happen...

Of the two, I prefer the 1895CB. It's long, but slim and carries and handles much better than other rifles of that length and weight. Plus you can load 9+1 -- sort of a 45-70 assault rifle!
