I may not have been around as long as you but these days I find myself in the same boat.

G I, when I was stationed over at pearl used to hunt with the kind, local boys all used knives to hunt pigs. Used to hunt at the Silva ranch up past nanakuly(sp). I always carried my 44 mag blackhawk. Something about trying to get between the dogs and the pig with a knife just dint make sense to me. Nice pics, and still have some friends over their.

Aloha, and thank you for the comments, these hunts and pictures took place during the last 6 months after i left Maui and were given to me on disc by my best friend and brother Keli'i when I went to Maui for wedding last month. I was a tad bummed out that I missed so much fun while away here on Oahu. You'll probably recognize several of my buddies like Keli'i, Aaron, Alika, Kaimana, Jesse and his Dad from Wisconsin, and his BIL Jake from past posts, all pure gold friends something difficult to find here on Oahu.

Aloha Rusty, no, the publically available wild cattle hunting is on the east side of the "Big Island" of Hawaii in the heavily wooded rain forests above the town of Hilo. There are plenty wild cattle on Maui too but they are restricted to the large ranches on the south east coast pretty close to where the last 4 pictures were taken in a area called KAUPO.Rusty wrote:Ji,
Is that the same place where they have the wild cattle hunts?

Maybe it's just me but your friends are hitting you with a 2x4-you need to go hunting. Some day I'm picturing you guiding levergunners after pigs and wild cattle on the islands. The kids are not the only one missing you.
Ji
Those were some great pictures. If I ever get to go back to Hawaii, I plan to let you know ahead of time to see if it is possible to get a hunt together. Come back to TX anytime.
