Damage Control

Post by rock-steady »

I was doing a little Spring cleaning out at the barn today. I had some cardboard boxes of cast bullets stacked neatly on a vertical shelf in one corner. When I touched a box of 500 Laser-Cast .30cal 170gr FP's, the box crumbled to dust. Termites, yes, termites had come up from the ground between the metal siding and got into my boolits. :x They eat the carboard boxes from the inside out and built a nest in boxes of 500 .45acp, the .30 cals and some 10mm 175gr SWC's. The mass of boolits had congealed into a compacted conglomerate of concrete-like consistency. After much hand-wringing and gnashinhg of teeth, I soaked the crudded up boolits in a bucket of cold water for a while (2 beers). Then I used a screening bucket that I use when looking for arrowheads and high-pressure water hose to clean 'em off. So, I believe I have salvaged the boolits and will have to clean a little more before loading. I just had to tell somebody. I was bummed out when I found the damge, but I'm feeling better now. (4 beers). :)

Very true, however so is one's ability to juggle chainsaws, but not one's ability to know if one "should" juggle chainsaws.

As opposed to beauty -- especially right before closing time -- which is directly proportional!!!

I run my tumbler outside because it's so noisy.

Checked it one mornig before going to work & left the top off. Came ome that night and squirrels had found it and had thrown all the walnut media onto the ground looking for something they could eat.

At least I didn't have to sift that bunch of brass. lol

I left the lid off mine once only to come back and find the cats had used it as a little box. YUK!
