A Very Neat Old Barrel Sight
Fellow Shootists,
A few weekends ago I picked up a very nice takedown 1893 Marlin in 38-55. The first thing I do when acquiring a gun is get rid of the front and rear barrel sights and put on a tang sight and a 1/16" gold front bead. If its a hunting gun, I install a ivory bead. Anyway, this barrel sight was on this 1893 and with my aging eyes I actually could use an open sight again. Its still not as good as a tang sight but hey, someone ought to make this.
I checked in my gunsight book and found it to be called the "Daniel's Patent Concentric Sight" Its the first one I ever saw.---------Sixgun

Very cool indeed! Interesting that they used the original Marlin elevator with it too! I love neat old sights!
Pre WWI Marlins and Singleshot rifles!

Sixgun,
Hey thanks for the great information!! Never had seen or heard of a sight like that before!
Congrats on the Marlin 1893. I know you shoot the old timers in lever action silhouette. Any chance you'll be using this Marlin??
Also what kind of tang sight do you like best? I'm trying to get a couple of Marlin 39A's sorted out to see what works best for small bore lever action silhouette. Any advice would be appreciated!
Take care of your Rubicon, I got my 07 Rubicon last Feb. and already have 18,000 miles on it.
