All concerned are doing well and now She Who Puts Up With Me and I are waiting patiently for next weekend to head up there. And if you believe the "patient" bit, I have a bridge for sale...

Not sure yet. Technically I'm the step-dad so I'll let the two biological Grandfathers pick first. My fallback will be Pop which is what I call my maternal Grandfather (and might be my choice regardless).rossim92 wrote:congraulations! WHAT DO WANT TO BE CALLED? I WANT TO BE CALLED GRANDPA OR GRANDDADDY.
Fear not! They've been married 6-8 years (yeah, bad memorydamienph wrote:Congratulations Grand Pa!! I am envious. My only child (son) has been married for almost 4 years and nothing yet...
Don't put it past me to do something like that!Rusty wrote:One time I was sitting at the counter with a friend of mine when both of his daughters came in, both in the family way. After talking for a few minutes one of the girls asked daddy, when the babbies get here what do you want them to call you? He thought about it a minute then said, how about uncle Joe?

One thing that I learned from my Dad's relationship with my son is; Grand Pa's don't need approval!! Kit, I like it!awp101 wrote: His name is Carson. It may not get the familial seal of approval, but I might just call him Kit.
That's what I am worried about; my daughter-in-law is a HS teacher and doesn't seem very anxious to have any kids of her own.Shasta wrote:Congratulations!I truely am jealous!
Neither of my two daughters want children, so I will never know the joy of being a grandparent. It is an extremely sore point with me, as I would make a really good Grandpa.

Ditto, my son doesn't seem to be in any hurry... keeps sayin' stuff like "most girls my age already have someone else's trophies!"Shasta wrote:Congratulations!I truely am jealous!
I'm not worried about them, it's SWPUWM. At times she doesn't understand my humor or logic so there's a lot ofdamienph wrote: One thing that I learned from my Dad's relationship with my son is; Grand Pa's don't need approval!! Kit, I like it!
Yeah, that would put me off kids for a while as well!damienph wrote: That's what I am worried about; my daughter-in-law is a HS teacher and doesn't seem very anxious to have any kids of her own.
That in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing but he needs to go in with open eyes, his head on a swivel and prepared for more "baggage" than he can imagine. The boys were 6 and 12 when I married SWPUWM so I know of whence I speak...Griff wrote: Ditto, my son doesn't seem to be in any hurry... keeps sayin' stuff like "most girls my age already have someone else's trophies!"![]()
Not entirely sure yet. I keep thinking about one of those Crickets to start with as "his" first but I still have the Savage MKII his Dad bought when he turned 18 and I have enough old .22s and small bores to take him each step of the way without having to buy anything. Once he's big enough though, the BL22 will make an appearance.2571 wrote:Can't believe I'm the first to ask.
What kind of gun are you buying for the young'un? Hope it's a levergun.
