We had a .458 in the family till flat pockets showed up. just get a small loan and buy a bunch of factory 510gr solids. they shoot through trees very well. I'm good for three shots at a time. :o .

You need an 1919A4 machine gun in 8mm mauser. That way you wouldn't need a chainsaw to cut down the tree

On a wood cutting expedition last year I was glad to be armed with my Star Firestar in .45 ACP. I used it to dispatch a three foot plus rattlesnake that I nearly stepped on while clearing limbs from a downed oak tree. I cut off and saved the eleven rattles to help remind myself to be careful!

My wife laughed at me when I bought the tractor and the first thing I did was mount a holster to the left side of the roll over bar. It is there, just not visible in the pic.

I generally carry a XD-45 on the tractor and cutting wood, unbreakable, water proof, scratch resistant and not one of my Colt babies.

I'm a brave soul. I seldom go out on the tractor armed. Horseback riding? Yep, .45Colt in SAA... you just never know when you're gonna have to put the critter down! But... one or other of the .30-30s is ALWAYS in the p/u! But... then... things have tamed down a mite in Texas over the last 22 years since I moved there!

Naz - use the chainsaw or one of the axes to cut the wood. :)

I haven't got the little Browning anymore and Junior has the Remington but I often take a shotgun just in case I get attacked by an angry squirrel.

From about half a mile, a 20 mm Vulcan sounds like a chain saw trying to start, and I bet it would cut a tree down very quickly.

I had not shot the 458 in awhile. Just needed some trigger time with it.

You're better than me. It took $45 for me to cut down the tree with the 45-70. Now I reload.

What is this a joke? You do not need a gun for cutting wood. Bullets do a lousy job of splitting oak, an axe, maul and wedges are of much more use for filling the wood pile.
