Here's a couple of pictures of my two favorites guns. I've had lots of guns over the years but these two are my all-time favorites. Looks, power and dependability. They got it. I can't decide which of these two guns I like best--and, I don't need to. Just keep'em, pamper'em and shoot'em!
The one on the left with the curved lever is a Browning model 71 carbine and the one on the right with the straight lever is a Browning model 1886 carbine. Both standard grade. Hi-grade is available with each gun and I had the 1886 Hi-grade but decided it had just too much "shine." On both metal and wood.
Today I decided I needed a picture of my two favorite guns, side by side. Just sharing them.
The 71 is a great looking piece. I passed on one last year for $699, went back 2 days later and of course it was gone. I just handled like a big model 53. Think I could almost like the 348 more than the 30/30 if'n I would just take the plunge. What is your load for each of them?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

I wondered if those were 1892 or 1886 based. Very nice pieces. I like the '86, even if I prefer the rifle version. A little more weight to handle the recoil!
My favorite are 94 based! Go figure!
The one on the left is my "Trapper" and on the right is my custom rifle. All 3 are in .30-30, IMO, a most practical cartridge. The middle one has, in the past, been my usual coyote gun! Tho' the Trapper may just take that chore over!

If I was to show two 1886s there would be certain calls for "levergun prejudice", so I won't go there. My "new favorites" are the Models 64 and 71. If you are wondering where the hood is for the 64 it's in the garage. I can't shoot worth a darn with those ugly hoods. Also, the gun will be wearing a nice Lyman #56A after tomorrow, just like it's big brother. I have decided to put one of my "hoarded " vintage sights on the Model 64.

Nice guns. The real mcCoy too. I also take the hoods off but keep'em. I have a 64 and may have it's barrel cut back to 20" just like my Browning 71 carbine. The 64 carbines are too expensive for me.
