Bear saves man from a cougar
Hows this for another bear thread? How many times have we seen people ask what caliber to carry in bear country!

That's a cool story...Perhaps the bear did save the guy on purpose as he was a familiar and safe presence.

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/ ... stantiated... Department of Fish and Game spokesman Patrick Foy told the Paradise Post: "We did interview Mr. Biggs and we are unable to substantiate a lion attack."
Harry Morse, another department spokesman, said they had no plans to pursue the alleged mountain lion and that a warden determined Biggs’ injury was not consistent with such an attack, the Paradise Post reported. But officials will test DNA from blood found on a backpack to see if it did belong to a mountain lion, Foy said.

From what I gather from a nephew that grew up in Paradise and now lives in Chico, most folks are calling it BS. But, it will be interesting to see what the blood test reveal.
But he is lucky he didn't end up like the baby buffalo at Kruger Park. Of course there it was lions and a croc, and they both wanted to eat it.

Would never hunt bears again -------------just mostly cougars whenever legal or (wherever)
Re: Bear saves man from a cougar
Of interesting note, hunty lions is illegal in California. Heck, kill one trying to eat you, and you better have a good attorney on speed dial.madman4570 wrote:Would never hunt bears again -------------just mostly cougars whenever legal or (wherever)

Not only that but don't work for Fish and Game then hunt one out of state you'll have all the politicians in a self righteous up roar-bunch of losers.

At one time, before he became a brainwashed CA F&G politician, Pat Foy was a pretty good warden. Once you become DFG spokesman they own you.

That's worth watching, (but turn off the volume if you don't want to hear the mostly stupid commentary by the tourists filming it).jeepnik wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz68kM

Good story. As I've gotten older I've gained a little more respect for all wild animals. I can see both the animal lover's side and the hunter's side. Be a lot poorer world without the animals.

The hunter's side is why there are still animals in the wild.
