PICS indeed!
Also, what were the details of your bullets and your loads for those velocities?

The 460gr CP load is using H322 and the 300gr is using H4198. The pressure should be in the area of 50,000psi.
This rifle handle those loads with no problem. There was no sticky extraction. The primers showed no ill effect.
Hell, in Paco's article From Elves to Elephants, he states, "Certainly 50,000psi is a usable and stable pressure level in these guns."
And, as yes can tell I hold his opinion in very high regard!

Sure is purty. With that buttplate, I can only think ouch with those loads. How much does that beauty weigh?
Kind regards,
Tycer

Finally I can see it! Good looking rig!
I've got the same rifle only with straight grip...and for the life of me I can't understand why some folk claim the crescent butt hurts. I guess its all in how you hold it, where you hold it and your phsyical build.
It flat works for me and I love the fact it looks good whilst doing it!

That rifle is a beaut! I'm jealous, my rifle was made in '90s and has much plainer wood. Shoots good though. I chronographed loads from mine and quit at 2475fps on the 300. Never did show any pressure with H4198, I just ran out of shoulder! I guarantee everything shot with those 300JHP's and Partitions at that speed went DOWN!

Thanks for the pic - beautiful rifle! Mine is straight stock with no checkering, otherwise the same, well, that is except it is a .45-90.
Thanks also for the load data.
I agree with El Mac, I have adjusted to the crescent buttplate and recoil is no problem, especially when not at a benchrest. That big old 9.5 pound rifle does soak up some of the recoil, I guess.
