New 12 Guage 00 Buckshot ammo from Federal

I have seen that Federal is producing law enforcement loadings of 12 guage 00Buck shot. What is different is the shot wad is not cut to open up when it leaves the muzzle. It holds the buck shot in place while going down the bore, then at the rear of the wad it does open, allowing the wad to slow and discharge the load of buckshot. Supposed to shot tighter cluster of buck shot at a distance. Sounds interesting. Has anyone see any of this stuff yet? Just curious if it will really work as reported. Should increase effective range a bit. Just wondering if anyone has any information. I used to upon the old crimped shells and pour hot bees wax over the shot to hold in a lump. Worked great at 50 yards. ATB

Heck, I thought everybody knew how to make a "hillbilly slug" out of a shot load. Hardly matters what the shot #. Just pour a stabilizer (melted wax, glue, whatever) into the shot to clump it up. Steel shot that has been chemically rusted together works well too...

If you can find an old Herters catalog look in their shotgun wad section. They used to sell a Vandalee (sp?) wad that worked the same way.

Given the caliber of Judge & Jurors these days it's hard to gauge how hard they'd slug you.

Cool, would like to try some.

Another thing, Winchester makes a 12ga load (in their Supreme line)for the 2-3/4" chamber that throws (12) 00 Buck instead of the usual (9)
The 12 pellet loading is what is considered the normal for the 3" chamber so for 2-3/4" it's pretty cool for those with guns not taking 3" shells.

The Federal shells use their "flitecontrol" wad.
I've not tried them but an acquaintance liked them for turkey hunting, well enough to buy two full cases after trying them. They are available in several different shot sizes.
