OT - Winchester 12, replacement stock

Post by Old Shatterhand »

Do you know where to find a replacement stock for a Winchester 1912 in cal. 16? I have searched at Brownells, Midway Sweden, Boyd's and Numrich.

I found the gun last week, and consider buying it, as the metal seem to be in good shape. However, somone has changed the original stock to a horrid fire log, and I would prefer to put an original stock on it, as I like Winchester's stock measurements. In fact, I do not want it with that log. :?

Awful stock, isn't it?

Old Shatterhand, If you do a search for 16GA.com there are a few model 12 16GA owners in the 16GA Society and they have a classified section.

I think the 16 and 12 ga. guns have the same size reciever and the stocks interchange. The 28ga was built on the 20ga. frame IIRC. Might look into that.

That would have been quite fine if it were so, but I have found that 16G and 20g use the same reciever. :(

I would think you are talking about the butt plate, right?

And is it a Mod 1912 or a Mod 12?

And the Ithaca Mod 37 and the Winchester mod 12 were really light weight and as easy as they were to carry, they kicked like a bitch!

And many people replaced the hard plastic buttplates with the red rubber ones!

Maybe you just need the origional !

Bob :)
