I love how the navy wasn't really a navy gun, and the conversion wasn't really a conversion, and the Saa wasn't called the saa.
Great articles.
Great articles.

Loved it. Very well done.

Reading about the old Colts is always interesting.I was comparing my 2nd Gen .45 to the photos. I bought it in 1959, for 100 bucks, they sold for $125.00 new mine had 12 rounds fired through it. Serial # 121**SA

I've let all my gun mag subscriptions run out, but every now and then I'll pick up an American Handgunner off the rack. Thanks for the link. I've read a couple of the articles and will eventually read them all.

Interesting set of articles. I didn't realize he had written them. After looking at the pictures, I realized that a few of those guns pictured, have migrated from his safe to mine...

Thanks, Markinalpine.
Shrapnel, I really like that short barreled piece with the Bisley hammer. Every since I saw the first SAA with a Bisley hammer I was drawn to it. Actually it was in one of Mike V's books. I think Hank Williams, Jr., had one.

I think that piece would be an excellent packing piece. Lightweight, enough punch and easy to carry especially riding horses.

Re: American Hangunner Articles about Colt Single Action Army
The first time I met the "Iron Duke", I was posse'd up with him at EOT... about '87 or '88 and we competed again in the same category in '90, '91 at EOT, plus again for a couple more years at the Whittington Center @ the "National Shootout"... in the BP cartridge category. Thankfully, I bested him most of those go 'rounds... but he spanked me at BPCRS there in Raton for the two years I went. Between his humor, knowledge and Yvonne's graciousness, he's one of the writers I admire the most. Having heard that story about HW, Jr., first hand... truly a story you've GOT to hear from him... (especially the LONG version), it's nice to see that gun get used and passed along to someone that appreciates it.
While I'd owned a Colt SAA for many years before I met Mike, I think my real appreciation of it came after listening to him talk and teach about them... yeah, you might not realize you're learnin'... but if ya listen to bulky, loquacious guy... ya will!
Great letter BTW, Shrapnel... Don't ever lose it!
