That looks like it'd smart, just a little. I've seen a number of things like that from industrial accidents and the like. Just glad it was somebody else and not me. OUCH!!!
Other than drawing an arrow that is way too short, how else could this happen? It could possibly have been a carbon arrow that was cracked and broke when he released, although the wound looks too clean for that. I used to shoot leagues with a kid who had that happen, but he received shrapnel like wounds and had scars all over his arm.
I can't imagine someone with any sense nocking, drawing and trying to release an arrow that short. Very bizarre.

Look at his finger. That skin flap is closed. No sliced open broad-head wound.
Maybe he used one of those that opens on impact or a field/target point?

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.
And now he's pinned to the bow and will have to take it with him to the emergency room. Security is gonna love that. That has ouch written all over it.

Seen things from arrows like that before, gives me the cringes every time.

Like Fweidner said, it appears he used some type of field point and not a broadhead. Otherwise that thumb area would be sliced open and bleeding like a stuck hog and the finger wouldn't have a nice little hole in it.
When I received this photo a couple of weeks ago, it was explained that this had happened in a Bass Pro Shop store where the guy was looking at buying a new bow. With the (inexperienced?) salesperson's help he was trying out the bow at their in-store range. He was transported to the emergency room with the bow still "attached". Bad deal !!
OK, now that makes sense, two clueless people handling a dangerous implement. I can see that, guy draws the bow, too short arrow drops and the field point lands on the hand , he panics, releases and we have instant internet fame.
He is lucky he didn't have a broadhead on, they leave some devastating wounds.
Thanks, Kevin

Man you would just think any one working in a bow shop would be smart enough to at least get the correct length arrow to try out the bow with.
I have been shooting bows, mostly long, and recurve, for a long time and I have never seen anything like that, dumbest thing I have ever seen, and it was after the fact was a guy shot a broad head into the air then ran away from it with his hands on top of his head, pinned both hand to the top of his head when it came back down, but that is as far as it went fortunatly for him

My 10 year old nephew did that trying to shoot an arrow with a Wrist Rocket sling shot. Unfortunately he did it while my aged father was visiting his house. darn near gave him a coronary.
