OT--Mossberg training rifle
A friend gave me these guns yesterday, a Mosberg 44-US (b) and a Western Field 12 pump that i turned into a deffence gun.
I need a magazine and sling swivels for the 22 if anyone has any parts for one .

If the bore hasn't rusted, they shoot very accurately.

Book marked them and will check them out, thanks.
Bore looks good and all the rust came off the outside with some steel wool and W-D

After clean up, shot it a couple times single shot and it shoots good, will have to shoot a paper target later.

Re: OT--Mosberg training rifle
Wouldn't of given you a plug nickel for the Mossberg looking at the first pictures, but your follow up pics look like it turned out not bad. Hopefully she's still a shooter. The shotgun, well, not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat, Pitchy.

Mine is very accurate with the Peep Sight. Was going to offer to sell U a mag but I c U already ordered one. Last one I priced here was $45. U beat that if shipping isn't too high.

Cool pokey
pwl44m, thanks anyway on the offer, shipping was four bucks so not bad then.
I gotta get out and shoot it more and see what it will do.

Shot it off a sand bag at 30 yards using CCI ammo left side is sighting it in, right is last bout. Not bad seeing the rear sight is blurry.

I also have a 46B, I picked up in a pawn shop four years ago for $90.00. It is in very good shape and is a real tack driver. These are great man sized 22s.

Shoots good, to bad about those sights, it's well known fact that as sights age the metal breaks down making them appear fuzzy, we'll at least a well known fact to me.

Re: OT--Mossberg training rifle
If that rifle has two drilled and tapped holes on the left side (rear) of the receiver, I have a factory click adjustable peep sight that will fit it. It swings to one side if you want to use the barrel sights or a scope.
I would sell it to the owner of that rifle for $30.00 shipped. I don't remember if I have the screws or not, but if I do, they go with it. If not they don't.

Yep..That is the sight I have. I needed one for my 46B and ended up with two.
Pitchy...I have had that sight for a couple of years and it is not going anywhere. But I have been known to change my mind, so don't fanny burp around too long.

Re: OT--Mossberg training rifle
Thanks again, question, are these made to use with a scope so ya can swing it out of the way?
Or are ya supposed to take the buck horn style sight off?
Or use it with the buck horn which don`t work well.

Re: OT--Mossberg training rifle
Very cool! The bolt on that .22 reminds me of the bolt on a 1917.
I love old .22's. I'm always looking for one when I walk into any candy store. Figure one can't have too many, and as i start to build up a stock of them my plan is to start giving them as gifts to scouts, relatives, etc.

According to the answer I got over at RFC it was so you could use the buckhorn instead of the receiver sight OR for the use of a scope.Pitchy wrote:Guess it was so ya could swing it out of the way for a scope to be mounted, well duh

Took the leaf sight off, this is with just the peep.
I`m pretty happy with that, center group was setting the sight, left group, 17 shots at 30 yards.
Pretty good for these old eyes off a sand bag.
