OT - A question for the rimfire Martini gurus UPDATE
Ran across this large frame converted to .22LR but the rear sight is missing (the base is there though) along with the blade from the front ramp:
Can any of you Martini gurus ID what might have been there or what replacement can be used/would be needed? Any ideas on the scope blocks as long as I'm asking questions? Thanks!
All the ad says about the rear sight base is "Parker Hale style base".Can any of you Martini gurus ID what might have been there or what replacement can be used/would be needed? Any ideas on the scope blocks as long as I'm asking questions? Thanks!

AWP, Check out John M Appletons website in Front Royal, Va. He seems to know Martinis and deals in them all the time. I have a model 12/15 and am very impressed with it's accuracy.

Re: OT - A question for the rimfire Martini gurus
mh, no rush as it's not mine nor do I know if I will be able to make an offer. I do appreciate it though!
This is more for information right now since I see a fair number of MH rimfires without sights (converted from large or small frames or purpose built club and target rifles) for sale. I don't really know what's what when it comes to sight options on them other than what little I can find on some of the MH websites. It looks like there's a bunch of options but I'm not familiar enough with the sight variations to know if more than one type of sight would fit on a particular base or the availability of the sights for less than the price of a body part and/or first born.

I believe Mr. Appleton passed away a couple years ago. Is his company still in business?milespb wrote:AWP, Check out John M Appletons website in Front Royal, Va. He seems to know Martinis and deals in them all the time. I have a model 12/15 and am very impressed with it's accuracy.

I believe you are correct unfortunately. A motorcycle accident IIRC. I don't see him in the links here: http://www.martinihenry.com/links.htm but his website is here: http://users.erols.com/apple1co/index.html#menu. Doesn't look like it's been updated since 2008.JB wrote:I believe Mr. Appleton passed away a couple years ago. FWIW, Zulu Neil's website isn't working either http://www.martinihenry.co.uk. Dunno if it's gone, new address or that link is just having problems the past two nights.

Hey, buddy do you got the time?Old Savage wrote:I like mine dry, or if you are making them I will try whatever variation.
No I don't got a watch can you spare a dime,
But I got two olives and a couple of limes,
Guessin' that means it's martini time.
Tee Martoonis at bunch with the loss,
I didn't even ask or care what they cost,
I lost my job for no reason or rhyme,
Guessin' that means it's martini time.
Martini time (vodka ice shaker!),
Martini time (olive or lime!),
Martini time (gotta have glasses!),
Make it with a layer of ice this time.
Dirty, dry up, or in between,
From the very first sip you know what I mean,
When you're out with a babe you don't nickel or dime,
Guessin' that means it's martini time.
Martini time (vodka ice shaker!),
Martini time (olive or lime!),
Martini time (gotta have glasses!),

It's martini time.
I live my life for a layer of ice
Just like those poured by my bartender vice
Any taste of vermouth would be really sublime,
When you have a good martini time!
It's Martini time (vodka ice shaker!),
Martini time (olive or lime!),
Martini time (gotta have glasses!),
Perfectly poured and top of the line.
It's martini time
It's martini time

Re: OT - A question for the rimfire Martini gurus
This site has a wealth of information on the small-bore Martinis including the types of sights that were available:
http://www.rifleman.org.uk/BSA_small-bo ... ifles.html
There is a specific section on the early BSA made sights but you will need to look at the later model BSA rifles to see the small-bore Parker-Hale sights. Greener made a wrist mounted sight for his Martini Henry (ie, large frame) small-bore conversions and Parker-Hale had receiver mounted sights on theirs. These are shown in the separate sections.
Lots of old ads are featured:

Re: OT - A question for the rimfire Martini gurus
That's one of the websites I was looking for, thanks!
I found this pic while digging around the internet, says the sight is a Parker-Hale No. 14. So far I haven't found one listed anywhere. Not even pics...

Re: OT - A question for the rimfire Martini gurus
awp101, that looks like something I have in my sight stash - mine is definitely a PH but I'm not sure of the number designation. I'll dig it out and get back to you in the morning.
Edit: - ....Can't seem to find the sight but this is what it is/was - a PH15A:

Re: OT - A question for the rimfire Martini gurus UPDATE
Yep, it's been a while and I've started looking again which brings me to this item. My questions are: is it set up for a PH7 or 7A and who has those sights?
Thanks!
Thanks!
