OT - latest Black rifle gets face lift
Seing how others have treated themselves to a Christmas present with various face lifts to their firearms or new additions to their gun safes, thought I would post a picture of one that was taking a while to arrive after purchase. The wait was for the Feds to come up with the stamps for the silencer and the SBR exception. Today, some goodies arrived in the mail to modify it a bit.
Silenced, SBR in 9mm, Coharie Arms model 89. Today I added the shoulder stock, sling, scope rail, a couple of mags and mag clamps. Rabbits need to be very sneaky in the near future.

Pretty cool.
I love the levers, blued steel, and walnut, but there isn't anything wrong with an aluminum and Zytel lead-dispenser, 'plasma rifle in the 40-watt range', or anything in between, either...

Just curious, but isn't a 9mm bullet more than a bit of overkill on a rabbit? But it definitely is TS, anyway! jd45
Re: OT - latest Black rifle gets face lift
sure its overkill for your average rabbit, but they feed on my veggies and grow big here!!! lol lead bullet, subsonic, quiet. head shots not a problem. not worried about loss of meat.

Having shot the real thing......they're a lot of fun.
Not much use past 50 yards but for house cleaning, they do a good job.
As someone very high up and experienced in the special ops community told me and some friends a while ago "the MP5SD is great for stepping through a door, giving a hadji a 9mm shampoo, and repeating the process on his cousin, brother, dad and uncle, till that one dumb kid jumps up screaming and ruins it for everyone" on why at times carrying both a rifle and a suppressed SMG was wise.
Considering he was speaking from personal experience, recently...... A lot of bad guys met Allah sleeping.

rjohns,
It seems you may know something of gardening.
Is it beneficial to put ashes from my woodburner into the garden soil?

My issue weapon was the M4, and the M249/240/203. Never got to run the MP5 officially, only for familiarization and etc. But a couple long serving SWAT cops I know could make the SD run like nothing else, and the various other MP5 users i've known loved them for what they specialized in (Hostage rescue)...later on, the shift went to M4s for overall use.

Mescalaro,
yep, wood ash from your stove is excellent for your garden. better even yet, throw it in a complost pile, with everything organic that is wasted except animal protein or waste(paper, cardboard, egg shells, fruit peels (no seeds), ash, leaves, grass clippings, garden clippings, etc). makes a very rich compost. then spread that over your garden. Don't use dog or cat waste but some bovine or horse droppings work well too since they are mostly made up of grazing.
I'm sure there are others here that have their own special blend by percentage but I just throw it all into the composter and keep it wet and turn it over every week. in 6 weeks during the summer it all decays and goes into the garden.

M4s are hard to beat! I think this will serve for close in work. Futher out I fall back on my M1A scout or a bolt gun.

The other thing is to avoid ashes from 'treated' wood, although it isn't advisable to burn that anyway.Mescalero wrote:rjohns,

If you have a 'shredder' (or chipper-shredder), you can 'mix' stuff with that and shred old newspapers to 'bulk up' the pile.
We use no real 'recipe' formally, but try to (sort of) mix green and brown stuff about equally; the green 'heats up' the pile, and the brown stuff is usually more fibrous and fluffs-up the pile and allows oxygen to penetrate it. Throw some fork-fulls of soil onto the pile once in awhile, and they will 'seed' bacteria, fungi, and worms to speed things up.
We use two 'hog' panels about 32" high x 16ft long, staked about 4 ft apart so if we needed to we could even run the tiller over it. Another way is to use a 'steer' panel bent into a circle about 5 ft diameter and 4 ft tall, put all your weeds and scraps there, let it rot, if you want cover it with a tarp or clear plastic for a bit next year to 'cook off' weed seeds, then slip in some potatos or sweet potatos into the sides of the pile through the 6"x8" openings of the wire panel. Grow your potatos that year, then in the fall, un-clip the panel and pull it off from around the pile, pick out the taters, and use the composted remains of the pile. You can have several of these and each year one will be at the 'potato' stage.
Sorry about the thread-diversion (maybe we should start a 'gardening' thread... )
