? on an old Winchester lever action

Gentleman, I am new to this forum but you were recommended to me by a member of another forum I subscribe too. I am considering buying an antique Winchester because I enjoy my Model 94 so much (pre-64, manf. 1958). The gun in question is a Model 1873 (I think). From the picture it appears to be missing the magazine tube. My questions are, Is it a Model 1873? How difficult would it be to find a magazine tube for it and can you tell me how much an original vs. a repo magazine tube would cost?

Repro magazine tubes are easy to locate. You will need the tube, spring and cap with screw. Does the bottom the barrel have a cut in it for the lipped cap, or does it have a hole for a long screw?

Numrich might have what you need.
Try :http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Pro ... catid=7380
This is the first of many pages of Winchester 1873 parts. Using the default of 15 items per page, I found magazine tubes on page 6.
Good luck,

IMO, Winchester Bob has the best prices.

What is the first two or three digits of the serial number, the end of the mag tube, at the barrel end differs between the models and within some model ranges, if your going for authenticity. It looks like a third model from the side. Calibre looks like 44WCF, no step at the front of the receiver top.

Best of luck, shes a fine looking specimen from the picture.

shiloh505,

Mike is right:

Plus, you will need the magazine follower, all may be caliber-specific.
