OT - Need help with loading data

Post by k8bor »

Anyone here have any loadata (preferably with Hodgdon's powder) for a 6.5 x 54?

Maybe it's just me, but it appears to be a slightly obscure cartidge?

I need to reload this cartidge, but lack of data.

k8bor, my sixth edition Hornady has loading data for the 6.5X54 Mannlicher-Schoenauer. They have loads for 95-100, 129,140, and 160 grain bullets. All loads are shown with Hodgdon or IMR powders. Post back and let me know what you want and I'll post it up for you.

RKrodle,

Thank you so very much. It would be for the 160's with any type of Hodgdon powder. Actually all the 160 loads interest me.

It sure looks a lot like my .260 remington, but you never know. The cases I have are Normas, and I'm not too sure about actual capacity, etc. so I wanted to go to actual published data.

Please post those loads, and thank you ever so much.

k8bor, The bullet Hornady shows is there #2640 round nose 160 grain.
Case- Norma
Primer - Fed 210
Max case length 2.110
Case trim length 2.100
C.O.L. for 160RN- 2.970

Powder 1800 1900 2000 2100 2200fps
H 4895 28.6 30.1 31.6
H 380 30.1 31.6 33.2
H 4831 35.8 37.4 38.9 40.4

k8bor, I checked and double checked that I typed the data correctly but please be careful. I hope this helps. The H380 shows the same grain of powder as H4895 at 100 fps slower. I thought this odd that the numbers are exactly the same.

If you meant the .260 and not .380, it might be the .260 case is a larger capacity, and therefore pressure would be down.

Nonetheless, thank you so much, I appreciate it.

k8bor, that did not post the same as I typed it. The data for H4831 starts at 1900 fps and goes to 2200 fps

H380 starts at 1800fps and goes to 2000fps

H4895 starts at 1800fps and goes to 2000fps.

That's fine, I'm going to use the 4895 data. I've used that in my .260 with that same bullet and really anchored deer with it in the past. It should work just dandy for this one too.

Really appreciate the help
