Going rate for a BLR 243?
I sold my Ruger 243 last summer and have been wanting to get another one to take it's place. My plan was to go cheap with a Handi Rifle sometime soon, but tonight I stopped in a local shop and they had a used, but not abused steel frame BLR. Looks like it's been hunted some, but nothing out of the ordinary. I never had a real desire for a BLR before, but for some reason this one has me thinking. They have $575 on the tag, but I could probably knock 20-30 bucks off that. Is that a decent price?

The price sounds good to me. The last steel one I saw was at a show, .308 and $600. It sold for $550 right after lunch time.

pre-81 magazines run upwards of $200 USD
Kind regards,

This post wasn't intended to start another 5 page thread about the pros and cons of the cartridge, so lets not go down that road please. Just curious about the rifle.
Tycer, I guess that would explain why they had the mag removed from the rifle on the rack.
I suppose it's tucked away in the back somewhere for safekeeping.

Ted,
That price is right on the edge of the high end in my area. Not out of line, just the upper range. It could be a Belgium model or a Miroku model or even a early Model 81. All are good rifles. If it is a pre 81 and as has already been pointed out - those magazines are scare and very pricey.
