OT Mauser 77 mannlicher

Post by barbarossa »

I picked up this gun a while ago and recently refinished the stock. The original finish was very dark and hid the beauty of the wood. The bolt has rear lugs, has a claw extractor, single set trigger, barrel is free floated by factory and is butter smooth. What do you think of her.

Pretty. I generally like the long forend stuff. So many makers don't understand about putting that voluptuous recurve in the forend like this one has.

That's a beautiful job, Barbarossa.

What caliber is she in?

Do you like the 'boar's back' type buttstock? (the euro-style hump on the buttstock)

It s in 30/06.I have always liked the german style buttstock. The Mauser shoulders real nice and the iron sights line up nice and quick.

Lovely European craftsmanship. I prefer a straight stock American style rifle like a pre-'64 Model 70 or one of the current iteration thereof (Kimber etc.) but I like these Euro rifles better than a glossy (gaudy in my view) Browning or Weatherby. Now if only she was in 6.5 Swede! :D

Just kidding, you done good!

Best,
Oly
