OT: What a Penny is good for
Was reading a Backwoodsman mag the other week and happened to read about a gent that stung by a bee/ hornet and he said " if you hold a penny on the sting for 10 minutes it would reduce or take away the pain". Monday was picking up clothes and felt burning sensation on my middle finger, had hornet attached to it. After I flicked it off; I held a penny on it for 5-6 minutes and BELIEVE ME it works. Except for the intial stinging and throbbing there was nothing after 2 minutes, a 1/2 hour later could even find where I had been stung.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Don't start with the puns, you'll just stir up a hornet's nest...BlaineG wrote:Well, I'll bee......
FWIW, I think I'll have "The Boy" knock down the nest I saw being built on the front porch so I can test this penny thing out.

Re: OT: What a Penny is good for
I'm not calling you a liar, I just think it was mind over matter. I've heard that "penny stuff" for years and IIRC, they meant a copper penny, not the copper coated zinc junk they have used for a long time.
The brain is a powerful organ. If you think something works, it will work. In the half dozen times a year I get stung, the only thing that works is "time".
IMHO, the only thing a penny is good for today is to say to the cashier, "Keep it"--I wish they would do away with 'em ------------Sixgun

Would a nickel work 5X better or faster; a dime 10X; or a quarter 25X? How about Canadian coins? Calls for a kind of a range report. Line up a few more willing wasps and a bunch of different coins and post results with pics.

What would be the fun of punning if it didn't get a reaction from anyone?!?!?!Hobie wrote:Blaine,

Don't you know that an incorrigible punster would rather have groans and rotten vegetables thrown his way than to be ignored?

" a nickle for your thought" way over priced for most of the people I meet. Tom
