How 'bout this levergun?
A friend gave me a copy of the Safari Club International's monthly magazine. This was in one of the ads.

Re: How 'bout this levergun?
12 thousand? I bet you could get a Turnbull or McPhearson just to name two top custom shops as nice or nicer for less.

Re: How 'bout this levergun?
Seems silly to put so much craftsmanship and material into guns that will likely not be used for what their intended function is; a painted resin 'prop' gun would look nice, too. Hopefully, a few will at least fall into the hands of wealthy people who will actually take them afield and use them.
Me, I'd just mount a $39 BSA red-dot on it, just so's I could see the look on people's faces.

For $12,000 I'll take this https://secure.cazbah.net/store.asp?pid=20285 and this http://www.turnbullrestoration.com/store.asp?pid=26479 and still have money left to go on a guided hunt!
Re: How 'bout this levergun?
for that kind of money, it better be a double rifle.

Re: How 'bout this levergun?
That HAS to be the price in rands
Still, if it rands, that's over 1700 US dollars!!!
I'll pass.

They're based in Hawaii? I guess that leaves them with a high overhead ... passed on to their customers. Can you even ship a gun to or from Hawaii without a mountain of paperwork?
I think it looks something like this ... 1) guy works on website 2 days a week, 2) works on guns 1 day a week, 3) surfs 4 days a week, 4) repeat.

Re: How 'bout this levergun?
Its sad to say, but someone has probably paid that price, after all, they are still in buisness! I am sure the rest of their guns are outrageous too.

Re: How 'bout this levergun?
if i pay 12000 for a lever gun it aint gona be a marlin and it aint gona be made after 1900 and it better be as new heck i can buy a dang good truck for that, or several good rifles and plenty of ammo, and still have money left over.

Re: How 'bout this levergun?
Overhead would not be that high. I think they are just trying to produce 'best' grade rifles and pricing to attract an 'exclusive' market niche- In this case Texas oil men with more money than sense.
Personally, I would be frightened to use a gun stocked like that in case I scratched it.

My dad has several Perazzi shotguns, one a four barrel set that set him back more than I make a year. Nothing better than outshooting him at Skeet with my old A303 I paid $500 for.donw wrote:i wonder if it kills game any "deader"? for that kind of money...it should.
This little quip from me may have got me disinherited; "Geez dad, you'd think for that kind of money they'd throw in a couple of lessons."
he replied "Hope your sister enjoys it when I'm gone."
