Fort Davis is in the Big Bend area of Southwest Texas. Rough country! I would say this photo was taken around 1915-1918.

Great photo. I spent a weekend in the area. Rough country is right, but immensly beautiful. I always think about getting back out there for a longer stay.
I wonder if that building is still standing.

Looks like the building was barely standing when the photo was taken...dr walker wrote:Great photo. I spent a weekend in the area. Rough country is right, but immensly beautiful. I always think about getting back out there for a longer stay.

I vote for the guy on the left end of the line to ride the bicycle...

Soldiers.
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

I agree with Buck on the guy on the left, he is the only one with his pantlegs wrapped up.

They all look mostly sober, must be on their way in.

I don't know. The guy fourth in from the left looks like he may have arrived early and got a little head-start on the rest of the crew.game keeper wrote:They all look mostly sober, must be on their way in.

The wrapped leggins are "puttees". Introduced by the Brits.
