What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
I was looking for stuff on Gunbroker and ran across this.

So what's Marlin 33 CF? Never heard of it.

Re: What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
I'm going to guess it was the 33wcf, with the Marlin moniker hung on it.
Re: What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
The 33 WCF overall length is to long for the 1893 receiver. Maybe in the original 1895 receiver.
Re: What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
Well so far that's the only 33 cartridge I can find. Also have to wonder if the masking tape on the barrel might be mislabeled?

Trashed Model 1895 barrel. Seller should have shown a shot of the caliber marking.

You can read "33-C.F." on the barrel in the last pic.

The barrel is junk. I wasn't even shopping for barrels. I'm just easily distracted. I haven't found anymore info yet.

Thanks! Old eyes, I guess. By zooming up (WAAAY up), I made it out. .33 C.F. -Marlin certainly wasn't going to give Winchester ANY credit, were they?Marc wrote:You can read "33-C.F." on the barrel in the last pic.

I think the price is highway robbery for someone who has an original 1895 Marlin that needs a barrel. As only 5,000+ 1895's were ever built, how many barrels do you think are for sale? I see the end of the chamber looks a little buggered up, but thats an easy fix. -----------Sixgun
Re: What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
I agree the barrel is repairable, if one has an original 1895 that one wants a factory barrel in 33 cf. But apparently the seller doesn't know the correct firearm that it fits. That was my original confusion. But I think we got it figured out.Sixgun wrote:I think the price is highway robbery for someone who has an original 1895 Marlin that needs a barrel. Re: What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
There were approximately 5000 1895 Marlins recorded but probably twice that many were manufactured. Both Jorgy and I have deluxe Marlin 1895s that the records are blank for those serial numbers.

Re: What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
Both Marlin and Rem-UMC didn't use the WCF designation on either rifles or ammunition. I have some yet unused Rem-UMC cases that are headstamped .33 CF.
If I needed that barrel I would buy it in a heartbeat. I already have several .33 WCF 1886 barrels for future use, but no 1895 Marlin. I suppose that the barrel could be cleaned up a bit and installed on a 1895/336 newer Marlin.

Re: What"s a Marlin 33 CF ?
That 1895 you found for me was a standard rifle in 45-90 so I didn't bother lettering it. I only letter deluxes or rifles with special order features. Every so often you will find a rifle that wasn't recorded in the factory book. Keep your eye out for more good old Marlins...thanks again.

Kell, I didn't think that one was a deluxe. How did the 45-90 shoot?
