woods walking guns
Recently bought 2 new guns just for walking in the woods around here since we have so many coyotes anymore. Last year I hit one with a .22 but didn't get him, never again. I've decided a .357 mag is about right. I bought a 92 Rossi 16 inch stainless and a .357 Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8 stainless. I've been hearing a lot of pros and cons about the quality of new guns lately, both of these are excellent.

That is a NICE combo!

Re: woods walking guns
Excellent choices.....My "woods-loafing" gun is also a Rossi 92, but in .45LC. I plan to add a .45 Ruger Vaq' w/7.5" barrel to the mix.

Great choice!
I like to carry my 4 5/8" Ruger flat top .357 when I coyote hunt, seemed like the perfect match!
I have not shot any coyotes with it yet, but sure enjoy jack rabbit hunting with it and a .357 lever.

Excellent choice!! I have a Rossi stainless 20" in .357 and several partner .357 handguns that I use for woods walking and general goto firearms.

Re: woods walking guns
I guess for just taking a walk, when I am not really that serious, I usually grab one of my pre-64, model 94 Winchester 30/30's, or my Browning 92 in 44mag, but sometimes it just a .22 or .22mag leveraction.

Hey stinkycat, that is an excelent choice for a woods walking pair. I have an old Rossi 92 20 inch .357 that carries pretty good too.

Mostly carry a Ruger single six in 32 HR. Just picked up a Marlin 94 in 32-20 that will become a standard woods go to gun .

Re: woods walking guns
Good morning
I have two "Woods/river bottoms" leveractions. #1 is my favorite: a Marlin 41 mag CB ltd and a Ruger Blackhawk . My #2 combination is a Rossi M92 in 45 Colt with a Ruger Blackhawk. I know of nothing that is in our area of the state of ILL that Either caliber cannot handle.

Very nice combo! I'm surprised AJ hasn't commented yet - probably still trying to stop the drooling long enough to type. He is one of the biggest fans of stainless steel we have here! (one among many!!!! )
