tang sight availability question??

Post by hfcable »

does anyone know a source for the style of tang sights used on the really early winchesters like the 1866?
here is one on ebay [not a repro] and it will likely bring a huge price:

a repro would be neat; let me know any ideas where to get one, thanks

Glad I looked at your reference first. However, I will say it anyway. It seems all of the early Winchesters I have seen had Lymans on them. But I am in no way any sort of a Winchester expert. In fact, though I have seen more than i could count (I have a friend who is a big collector) I never owned a Winchester until I got the lever urge - and it was my 3rd. lever.

Just a few hours ago, tang sights arrived in the mail from Ken Bean. These sights are top rate, excellent condition. Old boxes and original screws for the tang included.

He seems to know his history of sights and Winchester rifles.
