Marlin 94 reciever question
What are the differences between the modern 94 cowboy pistol caliber Marlins and the original 94 receivers as it relates to there size and functional parts? By original I meen the originals manufactured in 1894.

Theyre about exactly the same size, the older guns had longer tangs & the newer ones look to have more metal above the bolt. The bolts swap as do the locking lugs. The lifters been modernised a tad But I bet if you swapped levers swapping lifters would be fine. The loading gates are different but the same if that makes sense.

What exactly do you want to know. Its pretty much the same & most parts can be made to work. If you tell me what your looking for I'll go see.

There's one huge difference that you all ovelooked! The pre 1935 guns had flat mainsprings, and the new ones are all coil springs. The coil spring is actually a smoother operation once they get broke in.
I've converted a couple of old parts 1894's with new parts, including changing to a coil spring and late hammer, and they work just fine in the old receiver.

Pre WWI Marlins and Singleshot rifles!
