GANJIRO,

If you are going to use reduced loads (less than 2,000 f.p.s.) between the two, RE7 is the powder to use. 17 grs. will go about 1,500 f.p.s. or so. If the bullet is at least 18 bhn. Alliant shows the following 2 loads:
http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/ ... lletid=125

http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/ ... lletid=264

748 works very well with loadings that are closer to factory.
Here's Winchester data for the 150 gr. bullet:
748 / 34.5 grs. / 2310 36,000 CUP
I've had good accuracy with that load and one with 31 grs.
I would not go less than that.

Good luck.

748 has been one of the most consistent powders I have ever used in the .30-30!

+1 for 748, with jacketed loads.

34.5 with 150 JFP

30.0 with 170 JFP

I'm a RE-7 fan. I have excellent result with 27.5 grains behind my 150FNGCs.

Aloha Griff, what kind of velocity, and accuracy you getting from that load? What primer you using?
