OT: Officially retired........Update
.....as of yestarday 10/1/09. Worked my last shift on days 9/30. Will be away from home and PC access for most of October. My mother is having hip replacement surgery next week, so my wife and I are going down to SE Illinois to be with her until she is back on her feet, please send a prayer up for mom. You all be safe. Rich
UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hello all, back at the homestead again for a couple weeks. Thanks all for the well wishes for retirement. Special thanks to all for the prayers for Mom. She is doing outstandingly well. Her hip replacement procedure was fairly new for the U.S. only about 100 doctors here use it. They go in from the front, instead of the side or rear, less muscle cut and much less invasive, she was up walking the next day after surgery. She had surgery on Oct 6th, we stayed at her house until Oct 29th, she was using her cane to get around instead of the walker that she's been using since last April, amazing recovery. She is 78 yrs old and says soon as the Doc releases her to drive she's going back to work. Going back down in a couple of weeks to take her to Louisvliie, Ky for her 6 week check up. Thanks again for the prayes....going to take me a few days to catch up on the forum.

Mokwaw,
Congrats on the retirement. Might as well be retired from the rat race, the rats were winning anyway.
Best wishes to you mom. Keep her company and take care of her and she'll be up and about in no time.

Congratulations on being able to retire. Prayers sent for your Mom and for a safe trip for you and your wife. I am 44, and in my profession, that means I still have 35 to 40 years to go. The oldest full time Pharmacist I know is 84.

Re: OT: Officially retired........
First, prayer sent for your Mom! Congratulations on the retirement. I need to try that sometime myself. Though I have yet to hit 50, actually about to reach 48 this month, policin' is a young man's game, so I have retirement very much on my mind lately, though I reckon I will look for something to do with myself sooner or later, and then will need to retire yet again.

Re: OT: Officially retired........
Enjoy your retirement, and best of luck for your mother. Stress to work the rehab hard. I've been through two knee replacements. I worked harder at that than anything I've ever done. I came out great. Anyone I know with a bad replaced joint story didn't hit the rehab hard.
Re: OT: Officially retired........
You can only consider yourself retired if a friend asks you what day it is and you have to think a bit about the answer. Took a friend of mine almost six months to unwind enough to forget. Good luck and stay well!
