Me & The Boys Went Shootin'(Lots of Pics)

Post by Sixgun »

Fellow Shootists,
A few weeks ago, the boys and myself were swappin' lies at a gunshow and we decided to get together for some blasting at one of the guys cabin in upstate Pa. Our very own board member Uncowboy, Cas, and myself, along with 4 other guys spent the weekend shooting. Between us, we had about a hundred guns. I shot a thousand rounds as did the other guys.

Lots of steel to shoot, along with a nice pond made for some nice primer busting. Ripping off 30 rounds of .223 into the water made quite a "splash"! :D (It was safe as the nearest neighbor was over a mile away.

I even did my "Can I Have It" to Matt/Pa. on his Remington 14 and 1/2 pump rifle in 38-40 and well, I took it home :D -------------Sixgun

Me taking pictures blinding the guys! I just never grew up.

Thanks for posting the pics, sixgun. yes, it was indeed a great time. I think the BSing was just as much fun, if not more, than the lead slinging. Though, I have to admit, it was nice shooting Cyrus' Winchester Winder, Cas' AR-45, Uncowboy's 358 Win and his 480 Ruger....so I guess getting to shoot other people's stuff is pretty fun too!!

We certainly did send a bunch of lead down range though! I don't think there was a single steel target or rock that was safe.

Too bad I didn't have my little project Marlin 1893 30-30 with 16" barrel back from the smith...I just picked it up today. I'll have to give it the workout next time we do this!!

The model 14 1/2 doesn't look like it has the twisted magazine tube ? Or is it just the picture. I never seen one of those before just model 14's and 25's.

Yep, I think if Uncowboy were stopped by the local law on the way there he'd have a lot of explaining to do.

The 14 1/2 didn't have the twisted tube. Chambered in the short WCF cartridges it wasn't necessary to worry about pointed bullets contacting the primers in the tube.

Sweet carbine Jack! Always wanted one of those!
You probably stole it too ya Pirate! 8)

I did get to do some shooting over the weekend... sorry, no pics... I attended a CAS match in Highland, IL on Sat. Borrowed a shotgun and ammo, but HAD a blast none-the-less. If there was a forum member there, he didn't jump up and ID himself! Met a bunch of swell folks, got to exercise the new Henry (1860... HATE that I feel I have to qualify that description) and my 1851s!

I bought a pair of holsters and belt from El Paso Saddlery off the "used-bargain" table for my son. Did I mention I had a blast and met some new best friends?

Next road trip starts tomorrow... I'm headed to ID and then to Sacramento, CA.

That looks like a fantastic time. The picture of all of the gun cases in the back of the truck is particularly useful to me. Now I can show the wife that I'm only semi-nuts and not completely over the edge like you fellas. Maybe she'll remove the limit on my stash.

Glad you had a good time. But shooting at water. That one would have gotten me a good whoopin' from dad. Darned bullets can bounce of and go in unintended directions.
