Kool longrifle

Post by hondo1892 »

If you guys want to see a really cool flintlock check out this site. Three brothers completley hand built the whole thing. I know Frank and have met Hershel a few times. They are great guys and know how to put a longrifle togather. The rifle will be raffled of this august at the annual Contemporary Longrifle Association show in Lexington KY. The sight is housebrothersproject.com

I first read about Hershal House when he was interviewed by the students who were putting together One of the Foxfire books. Foxfire #5 covers Flintlock rifle making.

I believe there is a raffle for that rifle, and it is estimated that it will be worth tens of thousands of dollars. It would be neat to have.

If you go to the website address bar, left click on the URL, right click, copy in the body of your message and you will get this, a parsed link to that page: http://housebrothersproject.com/ Then whoever wants to look at that site just needs to click on the link you created.

Very nice rifle from the pictures.

If memory serves me right, I think there was an article in American Rifleman on them and the rifle.

They estimate the value of that rifle at approximately $40,000 !

But in my mind that number is very very relative !
Because you have to find someone willing to pay that for that rifle

And with that being said yes I bought my 5 tickets about a month and a half ago 8) 8)

Thanks Cast B, I always wondered how you do that. I'm not very good with these things.

Hi All,

There were also a couple of articles in "Muzzleloader" magazine over the past few months.

Muzzleloader, Muzzle Blast, American Rifleman and others. The CLA tries to get as much coverage as possible. This year they have been able to get more because of the rifle and the makers. Hershel has been well known for years. He was on the show Grits Gresham used to back in the late 70's and early 80's.

Everyone should buy this just so Gordon Barlow doesn't win it. Tell him I said so! (all in jest of course) Gordon is a driving force behind the CLA which is headquartered here in Staunton (right upstairs from Wilderness Adventures).

Hobie where do you know Gordon from? If you see him often tell him Brian Barker has an axe on his work bench for him.

I NEVER get to see him. He's a busy man! I will pass it on though. I know a couple of people who DO get to see him regularly.
