Yep. I'll have to drop my uncle a line - he was there from D-Day through to V-E (and a bit beyond).

Had three men in our very small town who landed on D-Day, and fought through Europe. Two are gone now, still wave to Mr. Dalton when I see him, he landed in the second wave, artillery.
VE day was a welcome time for many real heroes.
