Well, I got right to it, but when I got down to the 454 Casull and .45 LONG Colt I lost interest. It's one thing for a casual person to use that nickname, but for someone who is writing an article to use incorrect nomenclature is unforgivable.
That just spoiled it for me, sorry.

you're kidding, right ? I am looking at an ammunition box right now marked ".45 Long Colt, 250 gr HP/XTP " it seems to be a pretty common slip up

I'd love to find a Marlin .45ACP camp gun. I've tried to locate one but they are as rare as hens teeth.

My two combos are .38SPL/.357Mag and .44SPL/.44Mag... I've always been interested in pistol/rifle combonitions.

I like the idea of the carbine slide for a 1911 frame.

I wish Ruger or Marlin had kept making their lever/semiauto carbines and made them in other chamberings:

a Ruger 96/357 or 96/10mm or 96/.32-20 would have been cool
(I have wondered if I could get a .44 Mag Ruger 96 and convert it to .357 or .32-20...)
a Marlin Camp Carbine in 10mm or any of the rimmed pistol rounds would have been cool
a Ruger Carbine like their 9mm/40 one but in .45 ACP would be even better

DBW,
I have a Marlin .45 ACP camp gun,
it is really nice, like shooting a .22 out of that rifle, if you find one buy it, and definitly put in a recoil buffer from Blackjack buffers.

Ruger Single Six and Henry .22 --- awesome plinkers ! --- Only thing better would be a USFA 12-shooter/Win 9422 or M-39 combo

I have a Gary Reeder 3 inch 44 Ruger Redhawk, a 5 1/2 Redhawk, and a SS Marlin. I Love that combo. Now I'm on another 357 kick so I'm set with several 357 revolvers and a Marlin 1894C. Like every other 357 lever nut, I'm looking to get that SS 357 lever from Marlin.

My combos:

Marlin .22 lever with a Casull mini 5 shot .22, a Walther PP .22, a Smith 17, a springfield M1 .45acp frame with Kimber .22lr slide.

A stainless two tone Rossi by NKJ in .357 - with 3 inch SS Pro J frame Smith , Colt SAA with 4 5/8 barrel in .357.

original 1886 in 45-70 - Springfield 45 acp, Smith 3 inch .44 mag. (guess this would be a better combo with .45Colt in the pistol cartridge)

I also like to mix the rifle/pistol combos to large and small, or small and large. (.22lr with a .44, or 45-70 with a .22 or .357) for instance.

I've got another combo I don't talk about much...

It's the "throwaway"/Car combo.

Pheonix .22 & Henry Survivor .22 stashed in the spare-tire well of the wagon...

Does anybody really need a pic?

I though combos were in the same caliber, what you have is an uneven pair or trio.

Bear 45-70

The first two are all in the same category,

The third is an over .40 caliber combo. If you don't want to include it as a "combo" thats fine. The general thought is an interchangable combo and in that sense, I would agree with you. But there are other "combos" to consider. Could be a hunting combo, a CAS combo, a battle combo, a home defense combo, etc etc.

By your definition, I assume there could be no Carbine, Shotgun, pistol/revolver combo. How about the home defense combo of my Benelli 12 gauge and .45 semi pistol, or my sniper combo of .308 bolt gun and (pick a pistol/revolver), or my bear country combo of 45-70 rifle and .44mag pistol?

I will defer to your definition, however limited, and agree that the third combo is not a "true combo" by your definition, but I assume that the first two still satisfy your definition?

Here's a pic of few levergun/single action combos. I took this a couple of years ago. I've since added another 22lr and 44mag combo in a levergun/single action.

Now here's a couple I recently picked up just for the kids (when they get older)

I'm a big fan of same caliber combos, but when I hunt with my 30-30s or 30-06 I'll usually just have my trusty little Single Six.
