OT - Railroad Rules Is Railroad Rules...
Buddy Sent me the following:
The Good news:
It was a normal day in Sharon Springs , KS when a Union Pacific
crew boarded a loaded coal train for the long trek to Salina .
The Bad news:
Just a few miles into the trip a wheel bearing became overheated
and melted, letting a metal support drop down and grind on the rail, creating
white hot molten metal droppings spewing down to the rail.
The Good news:
A very alert crew noticed smoke about halfway back in the train and
immediately stopped the train in compliance with the rules.
The Bad news:
The train stopped with the hot wheel over a wooden bridge with
creosote ties and trusses
(In defense of the crew, according to Sixgun jr
the crew tried to 'splain to higher-ups but were instructed not to move the train)
RULES IS RULES!
(But, don't let common sense get in the way of a good disaster! )

Don't get the trots on an international flight if the lav in your "class" is unavailable either. They will send you to jail for not crapping your pants... and probably send you to jail FOR crapping your pants too.

That's going to leave a mark...
There's a set of tracks behind my Grandparents house and one dry summer (aren't they all in Texas though? ) a locked wheel caught the grass along the tracks on fire. My sister and I were staying the weekend when it happened. It freaked my sister out pretty bad since she was only 5-6 years old and she wouldn't spend the night over there for years...

Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits.

What you do is go to the galley that is right next to the lavatory and, if you can't get in, a) ask if you can use the 1st class lav and, if not b) drop trou in the galley and let 'er rip.Old Ironsights wrote:Don't get the trots on an international flight if the lav in your "class" is unavailable either. Re: OT - Railroad Rules Is Railroad Rules...
I was working in Sharon when this happened. The Crew was instructed not to move the train, they tried to explain.(they're smarter then us) The railroad had a new bridge up in 3 days. This train was in front of me when this happened. We change crews at Sharon Springs and the new crew takes it from SS to Salina KS. The bridge is alittle east of SS,around 16 miles. The RR made us wait at SS till the new bridge was done so the had fresh crews to take trains back to Denver. I made lots a money in wait time(held-a- way), and rememder it well. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

Ha! He's lying (my son, Sixgun Jr.) He claims to "be there". Yea right, he was probably driving that train. I hear things get boring and he wanted to see some action.
