OT: Spring - Time For Hornets
The new-to-me Savage 219 Hornet, with my CZ-527 Lux Hornet.
I think I'm gonna peep the Savage, to make it a walk-around loafer.

Cool,
Is that an old Weaver on the Savage?

Nossir - It's a 70's-era Bushnell 4x Custom, with the tapered eyepiece housing.
I prefer a 1" tube, but would rather peep this one - since I have a lead on a NECG rimfire clip-on peep.

VERY nice! You don't need two, so drop one off for me, please.

I have only got one 22 Hornet and have been thinking about getting another for a while.
You can never have too many. Not as addictive as Leverguns but still a very serious affiction.

The Hornet is a great cartridge.

A couple of years ago I ordered a Uberti/Cimmaron Lo-Wall .22 Hornet from Buffalo Arms. I outfitted it with a Marbles tang sight, and a small bead front. It is one of the most fun rifles I own.

I have a BRNO (CZ) with double set triggers. Ugly to look at but fun to shoot. I load hornady 35 gr with the plastic tip. Great groundhog rifle. That makes feel like blowing the dust off of it and maybe going for a walk to see how this year's crop of groundhogs are doing.

Pete,
Does that 527 have the SST? If yes, do you find you have to streeeeetch you finger to reach the trigger once it's set? My finger is too short to comfortably reach without releasing the trigger before I'm ready. That was the only thing that kept me from buying one of the 453 Americans.

I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.
Re: OT: Spring - Time For Hornets
These are my 22 Hornets.
Re: OT: Spring - Time For Hornets
That #3 is in really nice shape, Bear ! Once upon a time, I had one in .223, but had to let it go.
Yep, jdad - The CZ's got a SST (I thought they ALL had one), and I don't have a prob w/reach.
I also had the mag shortened to a flush fit, and the TG webs removed.
Thank you, one & all, for the kind words - I'll get out a range report in a week or so, after I get the Savage peeped.
I ordered a New England Custom Gun .22 Grooved Receiver peep, this morning (hopefully, it'll be here by this weekend).
